If this is open to all M3s and not just the E30, then mines had none either.
Why the question? You trying to trade yours in and the dealers said thats had an all over spray job? |

mines had a door painted don't thinks had much else. Yep mines been painted , and could do with some more , rear spoiler could do with a freshen up , but then she is getting on a bit bless er

Just to elaborate.
Front wing (twice -me on ice and previous owner)), Rear quarter, (taxi in Brighton) Rear wheel arch (Bus down my road) Rear bumper (same taxi), Front bumper (me, ice), and probably more. (and 3 wheels!!!) Looks nice now though! |

Mines having a full respray this week ..
New front apron (scuttle) New sunroof New wings New doors New front and rear screens and the wheels refurbed .. -------------

Mines just slightlty showing between the passenger side rear panel and the sill under the door. You can just see it over the side skirt when the door is open.
I don't want to investigate any further as I know I'll have to deal with it! |

Why else would the Diamond Schwartz be virtually bluey grey

I've had the whole thing done, and then two days later some joker reverse parked into my front wing, and ripped my bumper off. It's been in storage now for 4 months and needs tidying up before the sun kicks in again. Thought I might give it a once over again but might be next summer by the time I've saved enough for that again. Also needs a good service and the interior refurbing. Time to set my priorities and get it ready in time for the summer sun. ------------- E30 M3 CABS |

I have managed to get 3 spray cans of diamond black and plan a full bare rust, sorry meant metal re-spray ------------- E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg..... |

Rags, I guess you're right, although you can test for paint thickness with one of these: http://www.promotorcarproducts.com/etga.htm
which would show up any re-spray over existing paint, it's not to say it hasn't been stripped back to bare metal. So it's always going to be difficut to prove whether its original or not.... |

What people forget is what dealers do to cars when they receive them.
I was in a merc workshop seeing a mate of mine and he was sorting a front wing on a c class which was brand new 05 plate,as it had a paint imperfection from the factory!
Anyway, who cares if your car has had paint!? bumps and scrapes are bound to happen and i would rather have them seen to, that to 'leave' my original paint! -------------

people get really anal sometimes about oh its original paint mate which means its a better car or something because of it
like you say if some one keys it what you going to do ,leave it so its still original course not as long as repair is of top quality then it needs to be done

Both of mine have had resprays, and both look better for it. Ok the track car is a bit loud. regards,

mines had a full respray years ago & the front end could be done again with all them stone chips on , didnt help last week when i polished it for the first time , white wax dont half show up the s/chips -------------  cool as the fonz!!

| People also get anal about having a back to metal re-spray. Personally, a total waste of money. Why do you want to open the metal up to allow moisture or any other contamination at it. You are much better off getting the original paint flatted, any imperfections sorted and then a good quality re-spray. The more you spend, the more stones, other cars and any other foreign objects will be attracted to it........ |
