Ok, let's have your vote!

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT!!

1. YOU CAN ONLY NAME ONE CAR and NO CHANGING YOUR MIND AFTERWARDS!

2. NO WIMPING OUT, SUCH AS "I CAN'T DECIDE BETWEEN THIS AND THAT"

3. THE CAR MUST HAVE BEEN A PRODUCTION MODEL, NOT JUST A PROTOTYPE

4. THIS ISN'T JUST A BMW BRAND VOTE - IT IS OPEN TO ALL CARS

I'm going to think about my choice for a while before posting.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It doesn't matter if it ran like a dog or was only good for 50 miles.  It's a vote on the BEST LOOKING CAR only.  Not the mechanically best car.

Ok, well I've given it considerable thought.

After which, my choice is pretty much what I suspected it would be.

The simply sublime Ferrari 250 GTO.

Right, over to you.

Best looking car has to be a lambo miura

I may get ridiculed for this but I don't care. Personal preference.

Magnificent car, standard family hatch turned into a rally winning beast - but this was about looks only. I think it's a great looking car, and as a bonus I could actually afford to own one! I'm expecting disagreements but not caring lalalalala

Ferrari 250 GTO, Lamborghini Miura or Vauxhall Chevette.

Hmm, well the Miura was the car I debated giving my vote to instead of the 250, but I just prefer the lights arrangement of the 250 so it won the day.  People much more expert than I am give the vote to the Miura regularly mind you.  It seems to be a popular winner.

On the Chevette.  Well, its all about looks as they say so Doive is entitled to his choice!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....but what I would say to Doive (and it's a serious question that I won't criticise the answer to).

Looking at the 3 cars above, do you think the Chevette is a better looking car than the other 2?

Perosnal choice Coasting! To quote you: "The best looking car of all time", "Let's have your vote", and "It is open to all cars". I do not find the Miura or 250 particularly eye wateringly beautiful, although I appreciate that some people do. However I do find the Chevette a thing of beauty - I think of the most beautiful car as one I could happily spend a whole day walking around and not get bored of looking at it. My choice is my choice. I personally think the HSR is better looking!

I wasn't trying to belittle your choice, not at all.  I just found it very unusual.  Nonetheless, it's your choice and thats that!

Not a very original choice but it has to be the Miura. It is IMO by far and away the best looking car ever.

I do think the chevette HSR is a nice car as well though, although if were talking Opels the Manta GTE Coupe is a stunner, and I don't care what anyone says.

The Manta GTE Coupe is an interesting choice, because yes they were indeed a nice looking car.

Lamborghini Miura is ahead of the rest 2-1 so far then (all the others being on 1!).

iam sure all you will rember miami vice ..black did suit it rather than the classic red..

the car seems to be dated  by modern looks etc etc but it just has that heritage and sweeping lines.to carry it through the mists of time

But I`ll select the least obvious from my shortlist:

Very hard, but after watching Fast and Furious, the Nicholas Cage one where he has so many hours to steal a load of cars, and going to NEC classics show, got to be the Shelby Mustang, sorry don't know how to put pics on!

No probs with Chevette HSR or the others, there is no one right answer, to personal a question.

I have a friend who has a superb kit car of one.

It has a Range Rover 4.2 V8 in it....and boy does it sound as good as it goes!

Dark blue and very very accurate in its detail.

He built it from scratch himself - took 4 years.

OK, couple of things;

The Nic Cage film was "Gone in 60 seconds" not "Fast & The Furious". Still, nice choice of car!

And any Firebird GTA or Trans AM would do, I just happened to choose a pic of one in a very KITT guise . That said, the 3rd Gen Camaro Z28 IROC may have had the edge on it for looks. Dunno. Depends on the mood I`m in. The Pontiac is ahead in my mind at the moment: http://www.firebirdgallery.com/3rd%20Gen%20Images/90gta12.1.jpg - http://www.firebirdgallery.com/3rd%20Gen%20Images/90gta12.1. jpg

OK, maybe not quite the best looking car ever but I do like them a lot and I`m pretty sure no-one else would have mentioned it if I hadn't, unlike some of my other choices [though not many, if any, of them have been yet].

I like the Nissan skyline, despite what people in the motoring press say about jap styling. The best was the R33, and it looked better as the GTS without all the body kit.

I think the Nissan Skyline is one of the most hideous cars I've seen.

It is aggressive looking, but best looking?

The front is just about bearable, but it's just as well the above photo doesn't show the rear because it's reminiscent of Dawn French in a size 10 G-string.

There is one buzzing round York, and I have to say it looks very understated, a bit of a 'sleeper'. I quite like it as it's not pretentious and does look nice in white unlike a lot of other cars around.(A lot nicer when you see one in the flesh as it were, I was actually thinking of buying one before I got my 'ti').

another shot of the 'Z-tune', does look very 'manga' like, not everyones cup of tea if you're not into Jap Styling. I prefer the R33 GTS-T as well.

The problem for me is that those cars aren't 'styled' as they were 30 or 40 years ago. On cars like the Triumph 2500 mk1 or mk2 you could see the overall styling package, for me still one of the best looking saloons of all time. The SD1 was such a cohesive car in it's day, managing to look like italian supercars (ok, if you had a few whiskies and squinted) and also be an executive car. Superb styling.

Not a big fan of cars like the Skyline or the Impreza, they are all designed to be as mean and purposeful as possible. I mean, if a girl walked up to you in a pub frowning and snarling I'm guessing you wouldn't descibe her as beautiful?! Cars like the Miura all have flowing organic lines, and the E-type is simply stunning - designs like that will always be described as beautiful.

I stand by the HSR though

That's the one. OK I know it isn't the best looking  car of all time but I still like it. It's the simplicity of the design that I like. It's not fussy and pretentious like some many other cars.

Doive, I don't want to drive a pretty car. I like my women pretty and my cars to look aggresive and purposeful.  biggrin1
