hello All.

I own a 1989 [g] 530i se.

A strange noise has started to come on in the last few days.

It is loudest when the car is cold and comes on when I brake, it is a vibrating, whiring, buzzing sound and seems to come from the righthand bulkhead. I have also noticed this sound after starting up the car ,moving for a few yards then it comes on [buzzing] then goes off.

Any Ideas

Best Regards

John

Is your car manual? Could it be the bearings on the clutch?

I bought an E39 (523i SE) which seems to have a problem with the bearings on the clutch. When you floor the clutch when the car is idling, the noise disappears. If yours is manual, try this.

No help to you really, but I hear a strange, though quiet noise sometimes.

Most noticeable first thing. Even before I start the engine there is a faint whirring sound from the centre console, maybe the aircon panel... I wonder if there is a small fan or something to push or pull air over the internal air temperature sensor or something?

Would like to know though
