Hope lads make the effort to attend this meet because there is no use crying during the year when we can't fit all suggested events during the year in. How about those who cannot attend posting ideas and suggestions for events/meets for the year so for those who attend we can discuss the posted ideas etc also

Same as above, can't go as i'm working

At least a couple of more track days would be nice.

Also, is there anything organised for the launch of the new 3 series, this would also make a good meet.

Here's something for everyone to think over, don't know if i could make it but the BMW Power w/end at Rockingham on 21/22 of may has got to be worth a mention.

Further to Kevin's post - stuff I want to see covered is:-
* magazine articles
* dealer recognition - I had considered a 'dealer of the month review' on the http://www.bmwcarclubireland.com - website , which would profile a dealer - photos, etc.
* group buys
* club publicity & promotion
* contact with BMW Irl.
* calendar of events:- possible events include

  • rolling road
  • Connaught drive (Galway/Mayo) - will discuss with the two Kevins about this)
  • Leinster drive (Wicklow or somewhere)
  • day out at http://www.nationaltransportmuseum.org/ - transport museum in Howth (never been there but is apparently a great museum which our wonderful government refuses to provide funding!)
  • track days (one is organised, others will depend on the success of the first due to costs involved - Mondello International is ~€6k)
  • overseas trip (UK or Deutschland)
  • show & shine
  • economy run
  • karting
  • (with one or more of the above in Munster!)

Think you've pretty much covered everything there Killian

What about trying to organise a a club day during the summer, which could possibly become the annual meet for club members. Obviously all members can't all attend the same event for one reason or another, but as the club grows it would be good to have one set date every year where people can look at the cars and what the club is about. For example having the meet in the grounds of some stately house or the like.

OK folks, all set for tomorrow @ 2pm at the Spa hotel? I can picture everyone out polishing their cars tomorrow morning so they are not embarrased by Niall and Richie!

Anyway, for those who aren't sure, the Spa hotel is just past Lucan (outbound) on the N4. If coming from the M50 direction, pass the traffic lights at the Newcastle Rd. junction and anout 1/4 mile down the road there is a left turn/slip road. The entrance to the hotel is just past that.
If coming from Enfield direction, there is a gap in the middle of the dual carriageway to allow you cross over to the hotel. Basically shortly after you come off the M4 onto the N4, there is a slip road down towards Lucan. On the other side of this carrigeway, there is the gap.

BTW, there is a fixed Gatso on the side of the road (inbound) around here but it shouldn't really affect any of us

Yup Truth is I'm going to have the car looked at with a view to getting all scratches and dings sorted so it has to be clean and I have to get this all done before going to Lucan.

Its not fair.  I'm going to have to drive from Tipperary.

I'll have to drive very carefully to avoid as much road slime as possible and bring a bucket of water and sponge/chamois in the boot.  Thankfully they've by-passed Monasterevin.  It would have proven difficult to avoid spillage on the sharp right hander at the end of the main street.

A quick bacon sarnie in Bewley's at Newlands Cross (being careful to slow down for metal speed bump on the way in to avoid further spillage) should leave just enough time (if not water) for a quick wash and brush up to try and keep up with you boys!

I'd say around the 3.30pmish mark all depends on turnout and what topics etc are discussed at the meet/agm. You could alwaysring the hotel and page us to see if we are still there

Anyway, thanks to all who came down. We got through a few things that we needed to early in the year.
It was also a nice display of motors.

My mistake, difficult to tell from 2 photos. Looked like a good turnout I'd loved to have gone but I couldn't make it. How often are there meets held?

Hi Lads,

Looks like a good meet, some lovely motors. I'll have to make it my business to get to the next one.

To get membership do we still have to apply via the uk and pay in sterling or can it be done in euros to someone in Ireland?

You can apply via the UK or you can pay someone at an event (e.g. myself) the fee in Eurons and we send it off to the office.
I am looking into getting a system set up on the Irish site where you can pay online in € which will then be sent directly to London.

Oh God, who posted a pic of my car! It looks like it has just come from a ploughing championship. After being towed by a tractor. With 4WD. Travelling at 60 mph. But then crashed into a bog.

Thanks for the meet though!

Am I still to talk with Keogh's about a show and shine linked to their new premises or is the one from Eamo and Robbie the one for outside the Pale?
