Am going to need to do some commuting with my e30 convertible- about 300 miles a week. Is there anything I should do to prepare the car for this? Is the car likely to stand up to such treatment? It's mainly motorway mileage. The alternative is to get a Golf diesel and let the BM go. |

u r bimmer will do this with ease ,,,,,,,,, its not due a service is it ? if so get that done 1st ,,,,,,,, also check oil and water every week , tyre pressures ,,,,,, you know usual things ,,,,,,,,

Hi J Like pcbim says, you wont have no problem with a 325, they love the motorway. Then again, depending on the value of your car, it might work out cheaper in the long run to get something else like a mondeo (i know theyre crap but theyre cheap) and keep the bm in the garage during the week just to keep the mileage down, it will be worth a lot more when it comes to selling it. Mines currently on 61.000 and i dont use it during the week. I decided to get myself a cheap runaround for work just to keep the mileage down on my bm. ------------- E30 325i cabriolet motorsport edition |

| It depends on your type of commute. If you have a 2.5 then it will be very thirsty in urban driving but OK if its on the motorway. |

thanks for the replies. Yes it's a 325 so it will be powerful enough. the commute is fulham to henley, so a bit of motorway and the urban stuff too. good thing is that it means i will replace some of the ageing parts of the car, ie knackered tyres. |

You'll be fine, my M3 does between 300 and 500 miles a week and loves it (or was it me that loves it?!) Agree with pcbim, check the normal stuff and change the oil regularly - oh and make sure you use the right stuff, my car and fully synth don't get on at all and I use 10/40 magnatec or similar. Enjoy yourself and watch out for those b****y speed cameras! Jason |

| I do 500 miles per week on the M25 / M4 and no problems with my 1987 325i. Car was bought for the commute (with 130,000 on the clock) - did the timing belt, full service and put on a set of P6000's. Been going for 6 months - no hint of trouble. Most difficult part is to learn how to keep the foot off the accelerator. |

I do 150ish miles a week on M60/M62 and mine loves it (1991 325is) too. Only problem is the fuel bill if I finish work late and the M62 stretch is quiet.....foot down and off she goes! ------------- Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off. |
