I am sure this has been asked before, but how/who do you arrange your insurance with as mine does not cover track use, can you get a day policy ??

you can indeed get a day policy for a trackday from some specialist insurers according to Evo magazine, i'll have a look through my back issues and get you some contacts

it depends what type of cover you want.. if it's third party indemnity then you get that anyway as a member of the BMW Car Club (that's at our own events)

If you want you car covered for accidental damage.. then you must buy some cover as either a one off premium for the event you are going to do.. or if like me you choose a trackday friendly insurer you will have it as part of your regular policy..

What your insurance won't provide are repairs to the other guys car in the event of a collision... so don't be under the illusion that if some numpty whacks you that they will have to pay up... it may indeed be his fault but you will have to mend your own car.

So.. choose your trackday provider carefully. A lot of the risk can be minimised by a good TDO.

I'm not sure if this will be of use to you, but for my classic M5 (when I had it) I went through Heritage insurance and it was covered automatically for any track day.

When Ive tracked my M3 Ive used these

Cost me 70 quid which I thought was piece of mind especially as I was heading toward the gravel backwards

Which bit? The cost of the repair or the punching of the windscreen?
