Cheers old bean,

Not sure about spectator fees Pete.. refer to Shorty. But it's an idea even if just a nominal cost.

Will you be filming? I'm sure anyone who's filming for the video project would be discounted as they'll be in effect 'working'.

You're welcome to PAX laps m8.

Jon

My car can be used for passenger laps with a contribution of a £1 to add to the coffers in the same way pete's talking.

Pete if you turn up you could fix the camera to my cage, when it's fitted!

what are pax laps?

can i come along too as a spectator?

in order to get footage for the dvd i will require passenger rides in as many different cars as possible... sitting in a beast of a car hoofing round a private track at breakneck speed is not my idea of fun <cough, cough>, but i do it for the club, i know i know, its really selfless of me, but i'll get my reward in heaven

PAX=Passenger.

Ditto. But perhaps £2.50 a fairer contribution.. or maybe;

£1.50 1 lap, £2.00 for 2 laps, £5.00 for 6 laps etc etc

Possibly it doesn;t all have to be in the same car either. Again this would be subject to sufficient number of lids available on the day.

Every little bit helps the club funds.. Shorty can work out the numbers and advise on this. I guess charge from Willie will dictate preceedings.

I'm in for this. Livingston, 535d Sport (with tuning box?)  PAX Welcome

My opinion is that passengers/spectators should be charged a fixed fee (£5, £10?) and have as many laps as they want (or the drivers will allow!). If drivers have blue armbands, then passengers get white armbands and someone checks all cars and pax going onto the track.

I can't make the middle of May until the middle of June

Not an insurance issue.. just a safety one.

Last time club required all PAX to wear helmets but committee can clarify. I reckon they'll be a few floating around on the day anyway.

Craig.. when you get to the hairprin and chicane you'll be thankfull for that lightweight 4 up front. I can honestly say the sixes struggle to find anywhere to put the power down at Crail bar back straight which is the only real passing place but even there.. they'll need to be close.

But and it's a BIG BUT - it's not a race - the emphasis is on learning the habits of your car, have fun and driving with courtesy and common sense + a chance to meet up and have some banter. Adrenalin levels are always to the max without any racing.

You're running 225s all round.. and if that suspension is well set-up then you should get plenty of bite. Watch your brakes and you might be the quickest guy out there.. as us M drivers potter to not damage our bodywork...

I don't mind not being the fastest, I just don't fancy being lapped constantly

If crail is a tight track, then I should have 1/2 a chance of keeping up. The suspension on the car is excellent (Bilstiens sprints & Eibach prokit), and I should have an x-brace fitted early next year.

My front brake upgrade (calipers from a 328, x-drilled vented disks, pagid fast road pads) is still sitting in the garage waiting for the last of my current pads to wear - can't wait to loose those nasty solid discs

Quote as us M drivers potter to not damage our bodywork...
.... What about Gary then? IIRC I seen a video of Crail where Sport EVO + red mist + Tyre wall = *ouch*

Quote Jo Brand after a half price Chinese buffet.

*PMSL*

Cheers

Craig.

Firstly, as Jon has mentioned, it not really racing and is really a chance to get to know and understand one's vehicle and own ability. We all have to start somewhere and no you would not be a mobile chicane. We're all there to enjoy ourselves however fast one wants to drive round.

Come along and enjoy yourself, put your name down!!

Don't worry we are all a sensible bunch!  I suggested posting the rules so that everyone can see that its *not* a race, it's purely about driving your car as fast as you want around the track.

Posting the rules also serves to avoid any confusion for anyone who may have been expecting a time trial and to be racing against all the cars mentioned - step forward Mr Peugot 405 Mi6 driver

Might have to take this off.......

I wasnt so much concerned about stones coming up as the actual surface, ie pot holes.....

Yup you're running nice n low. I'd certainly remove the lower splitter to safeguard it and stick it back on afterwards.. about a 10 min job.. That must be about 2" clearance yes?

Having just got the wee gal back on Friday I'm now running about 3" clearance at front but I still don't think it'll be a prb too much now// trick is to suss' the track and spot where the 'dirty' sections are and avoid.

There should be time for a quick walk round (say 10 minutes) which gives newbies a good chance to also have a look. I'll use that time with a few volunteers to suss any areas to avoid.

If in doubt.. if I fall into a pot hole then take another line..

I'm sure Shorty can convince Willie to do a clean-up.. if not we'll remove any offending artciles and put them back when we're finished..

I'm the same.. got 2 corner splitters.. I also expect some chipping after these events but nothing a quick touch-up/re-spray wont sort and nothing you cant pick up anywhere else these days.. Who knows.. we may set up our own competition for slowest entrants.. or fastest mbr in reverse...

Hi everyone,

Excellent to see how this is shaping up. I'd like to mention 2 things however:

1) Crail DOES require helmets, but only for those with convertibles, this was the rule previously and I've not heard of it being altered.

2) My Digi-camcorder will be setup at the Hairpin as usual.

Keep the entries rolling in, lets try and beat our previous total of 20 entrants!!!

I assume it is the case we have the track to ourselves, no boy racers etc

Correct my fine friend.. of course apart from those 'little schueys' from within our own ranks...

Good pts from Jimbo.. Im sure there wil still be enough lids to accomodate PAX laps.. and most down are tin tops anyway.

I hope to spin out at the same spot again James.. is it a date...

Jon, do we have any dates for this yet?

-------------

Posted By: M BLUR
Date Posted: 13-January-2005 at 10:05

Slight confusion with Tommy over this but I have now asked Willie's office to confirm. Unfortunately Willie in Thailand of all places and so I'm waiting for his return to confirm dates.

Price approx £35 per car for 10 cars but I think this price must have risen closer to £50 (as it was more expensive I recall for the cancelled 2004 event). But will confirm. I'll also aim to secure us both track and drift oval for same price but it may unfeasible for Crail to switch the back straight from track to drag in the time allowed.. unless of course we can switch to the skid pan or oval during that time.

Will advise as soon as I have spoken with Willie. I'll of course try to get a fixed fee and lower the cost if we have enough cars to do so or negotiate a lower cost per car. At that time I might pass to you Tommy or go up to speak to him together.

Basically (as I've PM'd Tommy) provisionally we can have any Saturday 10-4pm during May/June. So it's now a case to see what is everyone's preferred date from the following Saturdays. It's best if those who have committed take priority and also try to choose a few dates. So the Saturday's are:

May: 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th

June: 4th, 11th, 18th or 25th

We can also cut this down quickly if we agree which month.

Preferences?

I'll add my not inconsiderable weight behind the 18th and 25th June bit in fairness any date is good fro me 4 now.

Remember these dates are only provisional for now until I can speak to Willie. Apologies to all for confusion and delay in confirming.

18th of June or 25th June fine with me

Just as it's not a 9am start

you have to be up at a ridiculous time to get to Crail for that time with the roads as they are in that neck of the woods

Not a problem Malc. track running times normally 10-4 so brief usually 9.30ish. Anyone late can get a quick brief before going onto track.

Hopefully data and cost can be confirmed shortly.

Tommy - as Events organiser can you ring Crail office to book? PM me and I'll give you details.

No, unfortunately the price is per driver, not per car, so you (or they) would have to stump up the normal fee.
