I'd like to do Mallory with the BMW Club as the only time i did it was with the VR6 Club-------do I need to expand........Sub wooffers - big exhausts and Egos too match

A-ha!
There's an EVO magazine beginners trackday thing for http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/trackdays/event-details.asp?ProductID=323&msvcode=evoactive - £125 at Brands using the Indy circuit but it appears to be a lot of being told what to do and supervision. So not having done a trackday before it may be a good bet. I am tempted with Mallory though, but will have to see how I get on if I do the EVO one. Cheers, Phil |

My need for speed is normally injected through motor bike riding. .i rekon a 320 driver the wrong side of 50 is doing well to keep riding motorbikes...let alone being able to see what the speedo is doing on a track day on a serious note .. track days are by far the best way to learn how quickly a car or bike goes and handles ..its safe ..its gatso free.its lily law safe ..but ive heard [dont know how much truth there is in] but apprantly some large insurers are going to some events to see if there cars are racing around and thus make a CLAIM .they have evidance it was track day ...i dont belive it myself but have freind of a freind swear blind that he tried to claim [fully comp] for his motorbike only for insurance to refuse ...and i know he still does track days .seen pics to prove .and his number plate is never on the bike when hes going around / your in my neck of the wood arnt you mr revy 320 ??? if so drop me a pm or a post here .and il take my bm with me too . might be a giggle ------------- its a dogs world out there |

Revy320-- Theres No wrong side , you are as old/young as you want to to be.Maybe if an Insurer came along to Our Better Driving Day, they would see the way they are organised and marshalled. No Red mist idiots allowed.Just separated groups of drivers graded by ability and experience.We also have The IAM giving free assessment drives for anyone interested---maybe the Insurers will comesee that .Heritage Insurance give a 10% discount over any discounts, if the driver has passed the test.Better way to encourage good driving--instead of the mobile laser,s. Can anyone tell me if the BMWCC days are BMW only? I've emailed Richard, but not got a reply yet. Quite fancy doing Mallory but not in my old E36 325i.

Hello Paul, It depends upon the event organiser.. Personally, I would welcome anything with a steering wheel at Croft'05.. but the EAR lot only allow BMW at Cadwell.. unfortunately I cannot say what the situation is at Mallory. ------------- |

Who's got the entry forms ?? , they were supposed to have been put in the latest issue of the club mag , rang chris he told me richard baxter's organising the forms , but it seems the man who's organising mallory and cadwell does'nt reply to his emails .. -------------

Tried that, even spoke to the club office. They could not answer, and they are one of the organisers. doh!!!!! So I take it all your cars have acceptable noise limits. Have you checked this with your booking ?????? as I`m sure you will be happy being sent home, without refund if you are to noisy. If you have paid this much attention to the regs for the day, I would hate to know what preparation has been done on the car.

Ah, now I know I don't have a problem 'cause the car I'm taking is a road car. However if you are planning to take a track car then I understand your concern. If you are planning on taking a track car - then I'd check with Waddo to see if it's a road car only day, or if there are restrictions on use of slicks. I know that many of the BMWCC BDD are primarily aimed at road car users.
You could try the Mallory Park website to see if they publish their noise limits. (it's off-line as I write this) How noisy is your car? (I expect the measurements vary) but a quick google shows most organisers at Mallory stating a 105db static. Which is one of the higher limits. Do you get chucked out at Goodwood or Bedford? Yep.
Get black flagged at both Goodwood and Bedford.
Its the induction noise that is causing the problem. Have spoken to Waddo but he is not able to advise. By the way it is a track car.

Kevin, you missed a good day, shame about the early start 5.45 am from Woking. No offs, although did see E46 M3 being towed away, hope all ok with car. Do not think my brakes will be the same after the hairpin...

What a fantastic day !!!!!! I never thought I was a track day fan, been to one before with John Safe at Rockingham, and it all looks a bit placid from the pits. After doing the IAM bit ( a few new members, thank you very much to all concerned ), and after several kind offers from various people to go out on the track, I went out with Ron Creed in his lovely F redg M6. Wow what an experience, Ron is a very experienced driver, and far from needing a toilet roll it was very exciting. Advanced driver or not, I couldn't do that, it must take a lot of practice to be able to control your car on its limits like Ron did, the driving tuition I promote is more about awareness and judging others rather than driving your car at its limits. I wouldn't trust my old E34 on the track, without having the brakes, suspension etc thoroughly and professionally checked, but who knows, I may be tempted now. I also had the chance to go "roadside" in a fully track prepared E36 M3 GT, owned and very well driven by Brian Scott, after he had shoehorned my blobby frame past all the roll cage stuff, and actually got my botty to fit in the bucket seat. A great day, ( why are those tracks always so bleak, windy, and freezing ?). ------------- Best Wishes Nigel |

I'm glad you enjoyed it mick , i think every body did , very well behaved , not even one spin or off all day , i don't think i'll use the e46 again , i've never been overtaken so much on a trackday , mind you it was the first time on the track with it , so i was being a bit carefull , or so i thought till i looked at my front tyres , waddo's secret compound brake pads worked very well , i think i'll try a set on my e30 at Cadwell park ... -------------

i heard a little titter that the e46 m3 which had been towed away had thrown a rod...ouch! hope there's a bit of warranty left. how much is a new m3 engine? is anybody going to donington tommorow for the M coupe gathering, if so see you there. i'm going down with paul kelly in his lovely estoril M coupe (19 inch BBS wheels)..........i wish my car looked half as good as his, bleedin poser! |
