When?
Sometime in November I guess so your weekends in December can be spent wasting money on rubbish presents for your family. How about Saturday the 13th?

Where?
Mullingar? Athlone? Portlaoise? Leixlip?

The closer to the pale the more Dublin members you'll get to attend, but if it could be a little outside it would help the country cousins a bit too, so Mullingar or Kildare would probably be good locations.

Athlone is a long haul. If most people are coming from Leinster then I'd suggest Naas/Newbridge/Kilcock/etc.

Brendan

Any of those suggestions are fine by me.  Its far enough out that the rest of us won't have to tackle the gridlock as well as drive there.  You're right, Athlone is too far, since its likely that the majority will probably be from the Dublin area.

I think the 20th is ok for me, but would have preferred Portlousy (Portlaoise) as a venue, due to its proximity, but Mullingar is alright.

The owners of Mondello might not be to happy but since you are the main man Killian you know what their limits are, the onlt thing is a truck arriving with the entire body parts of an E39 or E46 might not be very welcome

Well if lads who are going to the meet could post any parts that they are looking for then those going could bring that part along I don't think the Hotel manager would be to happy with an Autojumble happening in his car park, all we would be missing then is a caravan BOSS

Weather wise....

Saturday: The frost will clear overnight and during Saturday morning as cloudy, mild weather with outbreaks of rain gradually moves in from the Atlantic. Becoming much milder with highest temperatures 11 to 13 degrees in a freshening southwesterly wind

Could be lucky!

A good discussion about the season gone by and the season to come

Many suggestions about trips abroad, Frankfurt show, The 'Ring, AGM in May and motorsport evnet in Wales the same weekend

One person took on the possibilty of getting more tickets for club members for the BTCC weekend in July (hope that one works out)

As well Kirkiston we should look at Pembrey and Anglelsey in Wales for weekend away track days.

A good discussion indeed.an enjoyable three hours or so.id say the evening part of that wedding would have bin good craic!an organised trip over to the nurburgring would be something else.was watching topgear tonight and clarkson was over there trying to do a ten minute lap in the new jag diesel.he did it eventually only to be beaten by a local girl who never drove the car before by 48 seconds. Only 13 euro to do the circuit and 140 odd corners. There must have been half a dozen E30 M3's out on the circuit at the time plus a zm3.

Yes, very good article on Top Gear. It was amazing to see how efficient the whole process is to get onto the ring circuit, just get your ticket and queue up at the entrance barrier and how reasonable it costs. No mention of the ring taxi though.

For cost, an hotel room for 2 or 3 can be found for 45/50 yoyos/room with 3 breakfast.

Boat (or shuttle) will be the most expensive thing here. As for time, probably 6hours accross englend and then free motorway accross france, blegium, holland, luxembourg and germany.

Leaving on friday morning, we should be around nuburg late in the evening (don't forget, foreign country means higher average speed!) or stop in belgium/luxembourg and a bit more driving in the morning.

Anyway, getting back onto topic, thanks go to the following who braved the elements to come down to Mullingar:-
gjoconnor92 (aka Gerard O' Connor),
ludo,
myself,
Richie (Mooney),
Robbie Bradford,
techno violet (aka Turlough Nolan)
topazman (aka Niall Barrett)

Topics discussed were:-
* track days & how entries are processed (i.e. making money collection easier, etc.)
* Vehicle launches (3 series) & Refurbished dealer launches (having a club presence at both)
* promotion of club (leaflets [raising a litter issue], newspaper promotion [e.g. Better driving days], etc.)
* overseas trip(s) - possibly to Isle of Man, Wales & AGM, Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ring, Munich & Mobile Tradition
* attendance (with BMW Irl) at events such as the BTCC
* ongoing group buys (with a future item likely to be Irish Region t-shirts).
* an idea of having a dealer of the month (bi-month) to co-incide with the club mag. This would allow us to give a dealer a bit of advertising whilst giving the club some profile with the dealer network (and maybe even some prizes, etc.). This could be done by writing a small review of the dealer along with an advert on the irish region site/forum.

I think people were generally satisfied with the events held during the year but it must be mentioned that most at the meeting were not active members of the club until recently and did not attend all events .

Some interesting things on the list there isn't there.I'm lookin forward to next year already.Shame about the weather on Saturday as it pretty much forced us to go home.

Anyone see the black 7 series on the main road back to dublin with absolutely no lights on in the dark in the wet.Bl**dy plonker. I think he was behind you for a bit Killian.

I remember a car behind me with one sidelight - couldn't tell what it was.

On the M4 coming up towards Maynooth I came up behind a van with no rear lights (only saw when I passed him that his front lights were on). Flashed him and he then flashed his hazards twice! Would be interesting to see the car with one sidelight come up behind him!

Anyway, what happened you at Kinnegad? Did you take a scenic route as you disappeared from bhind me! Surely you weren't held up in that car of yours!?!

Nah I got stuck behind an Astra with no headlights who decided it would be safer to crawl along.I'm convinced he had drink on him too.Anyway,I got past eventually and took the Enfield bypass only to get stuck behind another 30mph idiot.Astra went through Enfield and got ahead again.Eventually got past the Astra and he then used his full beams to light the way ahead.Say no more!

I have a few on my camera taken in the rain after the meeting and possibly look darker than the montage Richie made above.

Dont mention Broadband to me. I had dealings with eircom yesterday which made my blood boil.It took 5 calls to them to locate my order from 5th November.4 times I was told they didn't have it and the 5th I was told I didn't get it because there are no ports available. BAsically I had to re-order and it's anyones guess when I'll get it.Have to wait for someone to cancel theirs.I told them I wouldn't wait and that I'd go to Esat BT and was told to do that but that Esat go through them.
poor Customer Service.I'm now lookin at Irish Broadband which is wireless.

Listen Rich, you are not alone. I was suppose to have it installed on Monday, spent an hour on the phone to the broadband help today(not so helpfull) then was told i had to ring Dell to check if there was a firewall on Windows XP, spent about two hours talkin to an Indian dude and then back to Eircom and hey presto i'm connected.....three days later

I don't know what to recommend you do, but i have to say it makes a huge difference. At last i have seen your footage from Mondello, excellant work indeed.....was very emotional.....memories

I'm signing up as we speak to UTV internet. €29.99 a month, ywice the eircom download limit and they offer a package to take in your calls too at much cheaper rates than Eircom.

I ended up lying to €ircon to get my home BB. I cantacted the BB support drones about 10 times over late 2002 and early 2003. My line kept failing. When I asked them why I was told to ring repairs. Repairs said it was a BB issue and to contact BB support.

One day I rang up and yet again failed. Hung up and rang straight back and said that I had passed a few weeks prior and that I now wanted to sign up. "OK Mr. Bannon, I'll just test your line..." and a few seconds later then "OK, your line passed..."

I have also been involved in getting 3 new lines set up for BB at work. All of which included about an hours worth of calls to 'customer support'!

€ircon show absolute contempt for all its customers. When they leave for another provider then then begin a campaign of harassment to win them back. One of their winback agents came to my house and deliberatley lied to me about what I would recieve if I returned (which I regretfully did). I was suspicious about the 25% off your bill claim so I got 1901 to confirm it. I eventually got them to admit in writing ( ) that I was 'misled'. However, the letter doesn't explain why 1901 confirmed the agents misleading claims!

your signature is working on this page but not on the previous one. I suspect that either your new broadband is messing with your head or you accidentally unticked the 'show signature' box when posting.
Don't know about the report icon - presumably just didn't download?

You're the man Killian, you know what they say, if you want something done right then do it yourself.

Cheers
