hi all , i need some help . my friend who has a M3 wants to sell it and buy a M5 , he not update to on M5's .. Question : how can one tell if it's an orginal M5 , what is the engine size supposed to be 3.8 ,4.9 or 5.0 v8 none v8's ..we can tell with M3 , evo's etc but M5 are a bit of a mystery !

what M5 is he after, what year. the E28 was a 3.5 straight 6, the e34 was 3.6 and then 3.8 straight 6, the e39 is a V8.
