E36 320i se intermittant elec prob

   Just wondering if anyone has experienced an intermittant electrical problem on a 92 era E36 320i se whereby the lights on the front electric window switches go out and the electric windows and sunroof fail to operate and can, as has happened, stay open.
Could it be a relay or was/is it a common problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
