Russ, did you convert these prices at the $ exhange rate instead of the €? I get the €769 ones to equate to about £530+vat (£623), and the €1199 ones to equate to about £826 +vat (£971). |

when i posted i used the currency converter on www.xe.com/ucc/ and converted € to £ and that was the figures it gave. Perhaps the euro has increased since then? Edit: I didnt add VAT prices either. Russ Edited by Deathace |

It'll be the VAT that screws it up then - thanks! The rate I used from the FT (tourist rate, not currency market rate which is about 8% higher) was £1=1.45 Euro.
BTW I'm getting the Quality BMW angel eye lights (the whole unit, not just the conversion) with the HID.co.uk Xenon conversion for about £700. I didn't like the look of the 'missing piece' at the bottom of the Xenonvalot Celis ones. Edited by mmm-five |

i bought the qualitybmw kit also (two pairs of main and dip lamps on backing plate with wiring), but still havent had time to get it fitted yet.(offshore, then straight on holiday, then back offshore.) i had a look at them at home and was wondering if the problems badger540 experienced would affect me as i have an E34 and dont have HID. the kit appeared to be complete, and looked as if it would fit straight in. have i missed something? im new to owning a bmw, so its possible i havent noticed something some of the more experienced heads will have. a bit off topic guys, but when i attempted to fit them i found i had a problem with my dips. the passenger side dip works intermittantly, and the drivers side dip doesnt work at all, main beam and side lights work fine. All bulbs are in good order, so its not that. im hoping its just a relay or the like, but i didnt have much time to investigate further. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on either point, your help will be greatly appreciated. The Depo lights should just be a direct replacement for the original Hella units, the only reason Andy made the modifications was that he wasn't happy with the quality of the Depo support frame or the beam pattern/cutoff pattern of the replacement Low beam projectors. Did the dips work ok before you installed the new units ? If not it sounds like you have a problem with your LKM, check Here for further information.
Hope that helps. Miles |

The Depo kit didn't have the stepper motors for headlight aim adjustment. It's fiddly to swap over the stepper motor off your old backing plate without removing the dip beams off the mountings first. Have a look in the Bentley manual or on the ETK for an exploded diagram and you'll twig what I mean. Cheers. Andy West Midlands |

No problem Miles, there was a lot of moulding flash on the backplate and it seemed to be made of a softer material than the OEM one, but the stepper motor was the main stumbling block. I think I may have just fitted them straight on if it wasn't for that. Andy West Midlands |

hey guys.
thanks for the advice. the original lights seem to be adjusted by means of screws, just like the quality bmw pic in mmm-fives post. there werent any motors attached to the backing plates. perhaps this is a feature on later model cars. do you have them on yours Miles? the backing plate material is softer like you say Andy, but by the looks of things they should fit straight in. fingers crossed. i think what i need to do is buy a haynes/bently (recommendations please) then ill be able to see for myself instead of asking you guys questions all the time. i havent had a chance to get the new angeleyes in yet Miles, so the problems with the dips are more likely to be related to the LKM like you say rather than anything to do with the new units. thanks again for the help guys. much appreciated. |

Yes my lights do have the adjusting motors on them, they attach at one of the 3 mounting points on the low beam light units. Have you got a numbered wheel next to your main headlight switch ? As i thought all E34's apart from those with self leveling suspension (my M5 did not have the Headlight motors) were fitted with this feature as standard ?
The only manual worth getting for the E34 would be the Bentley Service manual, but i really don't mind answering (or at least try to answer) any other questions you may have. Goog luck with the installation Miles |

i dont have a wheel next to my headlight switch, so im thinking it may be a feature from later models(mine is an 89).
just as well i dont have a tow bar, or the need to tow anything. ill order a bently manual online, so its at home for me getting back. got to get her ready for the MOT when i get home, so that should be a laugh. shouldnt need too much though with any luck. Thanks for the offer of answering future questions Miles, you're a gentleman. in fact, everyone ive encountered on here so far, has been great. Cheers, Scott. |
