To All M Power owners.

I have just got a my car insured with Liverpool Victoria on a BMW M3 Evo Convertible E36 for £654 fully comp. I had only had my policy running with Tesco's since March so it was not due for renewal but I was paying £912 comp with Tesco, so cancelled and lost 1 months insurance to save a few hundred pounds. Plus my excess is now only £500 compaired to £950 with Tesco. Give them a try online at www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk made my day as I hate paying loads for insurance.

That's exactly what I did. When Adrian Flux sent through my renewal it was £1320. I went on Elephant and got it for £950, phoned up Adrian Flux, they told me to fax through the proof of quote and amazingly they managed to get my insurance down to £927 - a saving of £393!!! Makes you wonder how many people get ripped off by these barstools - I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!!!

I'm going with Elephant too!!   just renewed my 328 insurance with them!!  the renewal was £810, I put a new quote online and managed £645 so I called them and they gave me loads of bulls**t about the computer linking the quotes and giving second car discount!! (although I used a differnt Name and different house number!!!) so I managed to get it for £677 fully comp with £250 excess.

The M5 is going to cost me £1100 to insure, which isn't too bad for a 25 yo will only 3 years no claims. Just have to sell the other cars to allow for it!

Car insurance should be like bike insurance where you can add multiple bikes. My mate at work has 21 bikes on 2 policies!!

We are being ripped off totally.

Rags, so you found an M3 then? anyone we know?

Hello mate,

Well, i haven't found one yet but I am looking at two this coming weekend.

I would love to have a nose around your motor one of these days as it looks a minter.

Rags, feel free mate, I wish she were a minter, once you start poking around yourself and fixing bits and pieces is when you realise that not everything is a rosey as it first seems.
Still, nothing so far that I haven't expected and cosmetic pieces are very easily fixed.

She's a keeper (in my best Goldmember accent) so no probs.
I'm up in Horley, by Gatwick so if you want to meet up , no probs.
I'm taking her to Newquay this weekend for a tradional lads boozy weekend.

I've just renewed my insurance. I phoned around heaps and came up with the following:

(36 years old, clean license, 11 years NCD, parked on drive, Thatcham 2 immobiliser, fully comp, class 1 business (adds around £50), protected no claims, safe post code)

Renewal from Bell Direct (0870 549 2200), £598.50 came down to £552 after calling them, £250 excess

Firebond (0870 444 0556) £600, £450 excess

Sureteam Direct (0870 2020 230) £560, £250 excess

Performance Direct (0870 420 1897) £488, £300 excess

Footman James (0845 330 9763) £480, £400 excess

Heritage (0121 246 6060) wouldn't quote unless always garaged

Adrian Flux (08700 777 888) £465, £300 excess

Roadsure (0870 499 0333) £455, £350 excess

Dial Direct (0870 160 9661) £530, £600 excess

IAM Select (08457 023160) Only do classic policies for high performance cars

HIC (01279 757773) Wouldn't quote on import

Greenlight (08707 53 54 55) £556, £400 excess

Admiral (0800 600 800) No imports

Swinton (0800 138 0977) No imports (Loads of companies in the Yellow Pages turned out to be Swintons)

Norwich Union Direct (again goes under loads of names) won't insure imports.

As always, loads of hassles explaining it's an import but standard LHD - even trying to tell them it's exactly the same as a Ravaglia. Lat year I just said it was a Ravaglia to save the hassles.

I got a stunning quote from Autonet (0800 27 99 678) of £369 with a £400 excess, but when I called today to go with it, they added 25% as it was an import!

Ended up going with Adrian Flux.

Guys,

I am only 27 and i am insuring my E36 M3 conv and Peugeot 306 GLX 1.9 Diesel Turbo through Direct Line for £850 with only a £200 excess.

Thought this was quite reasonable.
