please could someone help, i have a 1974 2002 auto which i have owned for the last two years i do less than 2000 miles a year in it and i drive it every 10 to 14 days the problem is I went to use the brakes and the pedal went straight down to the floor with vigours pumping i was able to stop the car, i thought air was getting into the system so i change all hoses fitted a new master cylinder kit  all new brake fluid  this seemed to work and was ok for the first 200 miles, then the problem reoccured, only difference this time was, pumping the brakes this time i managed to regain pressure in the system and i was able to drive home, albeit very slowly. please can any one tell me if they have had a fault like this how to rectify it or what i should be looking at next.    any advice would be much appreciated

As you have fitted a new seal kit take another look and make sure that there is no corrosion within the master cylinder and that the seal was fitted the correct way round.

I had a couple of similar experiences with BMs in the seventies both in CSAs one my own the other was my boss's car.

I am afraid that the cure we found were for new master cylinders.
