ok ok... no I'm not selling my E30-M3, becuase I love it to bits

But I do need a motorway basher and am looking out for a tidy E36 M3. Ideally I want black with black leather and if it's an Evo a warranty.

Would also look at 328i sport cars.... in black

If anyone sees anything think of me...

Tom H

Thanks anyone who can help.

Wrong colour but a friend of mine has a really nice '97 Estoril blue Evo car for sale. High Spec with Grey leather, 79k and BMW Warranty until Feb 05 - so no Vanos worries.

Genuine reluctant sale too, Ł13,500 ono

Well I've bought one.... provided it get's the through inspection on Friday that is. Managed to get hold of tidy early EVO for excellent money but no warranty at this price.

I'm still keeping the white E30 M3... I love that car, and it's so well sorted now, I've never driven a car that is so balanced and settled through the twisties. For now though it's going to have to go into storage whilst I take the insurance off that and put it on the black M3.. then in a couple months I'll have the finances back on an even keel and can sort out a track/limited road policy for the white M3.

But... it looks like I'll be missing Oulton in July, can't really afford to buy a car, insure the white one and do a weekend at Oulton park all at once. And it looks like my carbon airbox for the E30 will be sitting on the floor in Bexleys for another month... now where's my lottery ticket.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me etc for their help over the last few weeks.

Well I'm no expert, but I've got a half decent idea what I'm looking for on the car... So i did a deal with the guy, I'll take the car on Friday and take it to Bexley's. They're going to check it over and give me an assessment. I've got the option to return the car on Friday and get my money back less 500 quid if I want.

Obviously I don't want and I don't think it will be necessary but it gives me a limited downside until I get someone who really knows the cars to check it over. To be fair though, I've not paid over the odds for this car so if the VANOS went in a week I could probably repair it and sell it again without taking more than a couple of hundred quid hit.

I'm sure if you speak to Bexleys about getting a car checked over they will be able to offer you something. Bexleys

I didn't bother with the AA or anything like that... what's the point, I suspect I know more about the cars than they do.

Using the chassis number I've been tracing/confirming the service history of this car through the previous BMW dealers who have maintained the car.

Fortunately all checks out and it does not seem that any major work not identified in the service histroy has been carried out. The dealers I've called have all been extremely helpful, aside from Holland Park BMW in London.. who originally supplied the car and are technically my local dealer.

Citing the Data Protection Act I was told that they could not tell me anything about the car period unless I owned it. Well I will own it from Friday and i've paid a deposit I said... but to no avail. The current owner can phone and check they told me, but what use is this because then I don't have any kind of independent reference to the car, only the current owners word.... Personally I think it's daft.

I have also enlisted the help of my local dealer Trainers in swansea a couple of times now and they have been very helpful. The only one dealer who wasnt very forthcoming with info was also Holland Park.

Nice!!

Looks like mine!!

Anyway when I searched on my BM's previous history, they said they could tell me everything apart from the owner's payment or other details - which is fair enough, I think Holland Park are being a bit ****y, the information is not on the owner, but the car. My 328 had the nikasil problem and had the work done at Gerrards Cross and they couldn't tell me anything even tho they'd done major warranty work, as they said they don't keep records for over 3 years!!?! All the other dealers it had been to gave me what they could.

Still as shiny as ever.... I love this car. Given it a clean up and wax before she goes into temporary storage on Saturday.
