I know it's dangerous when i come up with Ideas, but have a concept for a Sharkfest of smaller, but similar proportions to the ones that occour over the pond.

Last year there was a very successful meet at Heckfield for the coupe section of the club in which 26 six series turned up and about 45 cars. This year all has gone quiet on the coupe front and i for one am missing these meetings.

I have yet to speak to any pubs or meeting points and have never organised an event of any sort before, but was thinking of meeting up at a Pub in the morning. Driving to another pub and having lunch, then leaving that pub and driving to Hampton court where a photo could be taken in front of the building.  A couple of locations spring to mind including obviously heckfield. But also Newlands corner inbetween guildford and Dorking which has a large car park and the pub next door to Munich Legends in Sussex. Another possible stopping point could be Brooklands in surrey. As for Hampton court i am a member there and could probable arrange for a photo oportunity, although i suspect there might be some finantial cost to doing this.

I was thinking of organsing this event on the last Sunday in August which would give plenty of time to get the word out, and for everything to be organised. What are your ideas etc.

P.S. If any of the moderators feel this would be better on another section/sections please feel free to move

James

Sounds Interesting James, are there a good number of Six series owners in the area, to support the event ?

I was hoping that every six owner could be encouraged to come down. The Pacific shark fest in the USA has 190 cars signed up for there upcomming event. I was hoping at a number between 25-50 sixes.  So far i think i have 5 that i could consider definates, with probable another 15 probables if i pushed hard.

Nope although i spoke with Howard at Rockingham about my idea and he was keen. I decided though rather than waiting for someone to do something which could take some time i would take the bull by the horns.

I am boldly diving in with no idea what i am doing and how to do it

You tell me what you want to do and I will give it all the backing I can. Magazine - straight six - main website - no problem. Basically the pub needs to have a decent car park, and reasonably good food at not too much expense. As to starting at a pub, and driving to another, that sounds like a pub crawl to me! Why not do what we do in the north - find a supermarket that sells cheap fuel and start there. What is also neeeded is an email dropping on the mailbox of all the coupe guys about two weeks before the event.
I will try to make up a list of all recent joiners and then you can have the email addresses to send out your letter.

For a quick sharkfest, have a look at the coupe event in holland on the coupe section forum announcements. The guys organising it are the ones that came over here last year and we had a great time at Munich Legends and in the Midlands with them. I was hoping some people would fancy going along and joining them in late april. Unfortunately I can't go.

If it does go ahead, I'll definately take my '6'.  She should be about sorted by then..needs a little bit of TLC after being stored for 2 yrs....

Just let me know where and when, and I'll be there

Thanks for all the support guys. I need to open up some discussions. Munich Legends was going to be a port of call as the pub next door looks very nice and i have eaten there and the foods great.

Sounds like a fantastic idea, could be really something. Count me in!! Just a sugestion, I know last year BMWCar were at the Heckfield meet, magazine coverage seems to work wonders for turnout, could be a great feature for them too!!
