On saturday while rushing along the A55 for the Holyhead ferry, my wife was stopped by the boys in blue and writeen up for 102,5mpheek1

We've been out of the UK for some time so I'm a bit rusty on the rules but I'm guesing anything over the ton isn't going to have a happy ending. Any advice appreciated

Did she show her licence?
If not then get an Irish provisional and she will then be immune from the points & her insurance won't be affected.

If notice of intended prosecution sent, DONT sign anything until you have taken Legal advice. The so called Law Lords have just dismissed an appeal REF a loophole in NIP signings , BUT-an appeal is being made.I think you were in Tzar Brunstons "Hang EM High"Badlands, so at 102-5mph, one can expect muito Try www.boyesturnerlegal.co.uk  possible Mr A.Carter.They have a fixed fee service , and are petrolheads.Say you are a BMW CAR Club Member.Keep the Forum informed.

I think she passed one and was stopped by another further on, although she was offered a view of the film - didn't take 'em up on it though.

KB, she did offer up UK docs for review so that won't work.

Thanks for the link I'll give em a call to see what they've on offer.

I belive that anything over 100MPH is an instant ban. Sorry to hear about it.

The day the Police pull someone over for doing 60-65MPH in the second overtaking lane who is not overtaking, and has no one inside of them, is the day I belive that they are interested in Road Safety and not money!

I don't think anything will change until the powers that be realise that speed is NOT a cause of accidents, it is meerly a FACTOR!

Killian

Are you sure about the irish thing.

The only reason I ask, is I've read somewhere of a ferrari, british redg, being impounded in frog land, and the british licence being suspended under euro rules, which if true, would also include Ireland.

Best Wishes

Nigel

I am fairly sure that it hasn't become law as yet - the various EU countries have no way of monitoring it.

ooh, I love being right
(however, it won't be too long before it is changed)

from http://www.eurolink-eu.net/newsletter_november.htm
---------------------------------------------------------------
Updating EU Rules on Driving Licences
----------------------------------------------------------------

The European Commission has also proposed a revision of European legislation on driving licences. According to Commissioner Loyola de Palacio, the proposals would improve road safety and cut fraud. "More than 80 different driving licences with different entitlements and validity periods are currently circulating in the member states. Hardly any proper enforcement of driving licences is possible," she said. Under the proposal, which is subject to the approval of the European Parliament and EU governments, all new licences would be valid for 10 years for cars and motorbikes, falling to 5 years for drivers over 65. The draft legislation also aims to stop drivers banned in one EU country from getting a new licence in another state. Member states that so wished would be able to include a microchip on new driving licences with a view to combating fraud.

I know I read about the ferrari, but there could be other matters that dont get reported as well.

I have a euro driving licence, all nice and restricted now in line with what other "europeans" can and cant drive.

I also nearly got nicked when I had to produce my licence after that horrid accident last year, as I had covered up the "euro" symbol with an exact size union flag !!

It seems to be illegal to be british now !!

Best Wishes

Guess who will be the leader of the Pack???, Right 1st time, the uk ,s Alistair Darling and the Non transportation ministry, wth help from the safety partnerships will soon have Europe sorted, Gatso,s on on all ferries in & out.Complete camera cover for Europa, with your Toll Picture stations, so you can pay before leaving each 20Km Zone.Police numbers trebled in all member states, but only seen on the annual Police day, when you can report all the crimes in previous 12 months.Transport 2000 lobbying for complete Ban on all cars throughout Europe, only buses will be allowed, and they all stop at 9pm.Nurburgring 24 hrs confirmed for the Grosser Prix Vom Skateboard, but warnings given that excessive speed down the Foxhole will not be tolerated , camera,s have been installed .Everyone thought George Orwells 1984 was a complete joke, except the Politburo, the only mistake was it was 20 years too early.

To be honest B7VP I don't think your too far from the mark with that reference to 1984.

Has anyone seen those adverts for the speed cameras. It says something like 'in any other form a hero'. What a load of b******s. It should read 'a new form of taxation'.

The thing is with this transport 2000 rubbish, once they have priced or ledgislated us all off the roads, where are they going to get the huge amount of tax from that they currently get from petrol. After all it's us motorists who are paying for the NHS and schools etc. They'll have to put it on alcohol or maybe they will start taxing the oxygen that we breath.

What ever new hairbrained scheme they come up with next for us motorists you just know the decision will be made by some idiot who doesn't even have a driving license.

Sorry about the rant, it's just one of those days.
