just popped on some red n white rears on my 318is. the left brake light and spoiler brake light are no longer working. something to do with the check control system. people tell me there is a fix to correct the problem, ie bridging wires together. what is the fix???

On my coupe, i had one brake light out and one rear out (no spoiler light), you have to connect 2 lengths of wire between the two lights,  using scotch locks or similar,

one wire going from the one which is working to the one that isnt (Brake light to brake light, rear light to rear light),if i remember rightly it was the green wire with the black line running through it, or it may have been the plain green one, cant remember, wires may vary in colour car to car......

I cant check either as i am offshore at the mo! just connect to the corresponding wire on the other light and it should sort you out ok. Both wires were tried before we got it right (Me and Pete323 - cheers Pete! )

Hope that made sense, if not send a PM to Pete323, he may remember exactly which ones it was.

did you fit genuine rear lights? the lenses are different for cars with and without check control.
