I have been having a bit of an argument with the car phone warehouse recently as when i uprated my phone 8 months ago they assured me that a car kit of some kind would be available for it as it was such a new phone none had been released yet. As time has transpired this appears not to be the case, and they won't now let me swap my phone untill the end of it's contract period. Now i am thinking of getting a bit stropy with them, but in all honosty i can't afford the time at present as i have to much work on. To cut to the chase i have a 7650 camera phone and want a half decent phone that has a car kit available for it or a recomendation of a car kit that will work. Anyone got any ideas as new or second hand phones seem to be scandalusly priced at the moment. It would appear on e-bay that i am not the only person with this phone that wants to swap. God i hate mobiles. You can't live without them and they are always a pain to own for some reason. Either they don't do what you want or they go wrong or the battery runs out when you need it. Rant Over

I have found that a bluetooth headset works well with no wires in the way and is portable from car to car. I bought various mounts to hold the phone from the UK distributor of http://www.brodit.com. You select the mount which is right for your car and then attach to right holder for your phone. The beauty of these, for me, is that they don't require you to drill new holes and if you remove them them there is no sign that you had them. Unlike other mounts that force you to drill holes in the dashboard. HTH |

Thanks for the advice Kevin. I have since been on the net and in all the shops researching. I went out and bought a new phone second hand on ebay that has lots of car kit options. its a Nokia 6610. I then bought a hands free kit called Mr Hands free. I then bought some perspex and an phone holder from halfords and with the aid or a hair dryer i made a braket to the exact specification i wanted. I resprayed the perspex black along with the mounting screws so that it went with the interior of my car. I then spent all of the weekend running cabples, spraying sawing and cutting in order to install the most descrete hands free kit i could without spending £300 to get what i wanted. Total cost of my hands free solution £62.50. I decided since my car had three small holes in the dash from a car kit that was fitted in 1988 i was best off using these and making things around it which is what i did. Am currently feeling quite pleased with myself now . |

I will take one, but have nowhere to host the picture. Will maybe try hosting it at BMW land and then linking and see if that works. Watch this space.

I have e-mailed you the pictures Killian. I am still working on making it look better as i want to find some screw covers which will hide them more. I am also trying to work out how i hide and feed the conection cables out of the centre console as i like a proper job done, but for now it is surfice. The perspex bracket was made by making a template out of cardboard, and then cutting the perspex. The Perspex was then heated using a hairdryer and carefully bent. My first attempt broke, but after about 10 mins and some slightly burnt fingers i had it bent to shape. I then sanded the edges to make them smooth so that no one could cut themselfs. The perspex was then wet and dried to give it some key for the acrylic spray paint. The rest was put together on a trial and error bases. I know i am now boring everyone. When the photos are up, i have to apologise about the state of the car as it's a bit messy. Have not had a chance to hoover the insides in a couple of weeks. Edited by Sohlman |

Well the second hand one i bought came with Airwolf, a Who number and my favourite THE DARKNESS as well as a number of other things. All in all i had some 25 aditional ring tones over the standard ones to choose from. This weekend i will endeavour to clear up the wiring and collect my Hartge Strut brace and attemp to fit that onto the old girl. Am very excited about that |
