 Topic: What is an E36

Apologies for a stupid question, but I've just bought my first BMW.
I keep seeing E36, E46 etc mentioned but what do they mean ?, I'd like to know what model number my car is.
Its a 1998 318IS Coupe first registered in Feb 1998 on an R Plate. The chassis number is WBABE72050EU0****

That'll be an E36 coupe with 1.9 16V engine popping 143bhp out of the M44 engine.
Can't tell you more, gotta get to hospital to have this handbook surgically removed from where the sun never shines!!!!

LO~L-not all at once ; I like the ability to choose a different colour to match my mood.
HMMMMMM, 1st was brand new to go with a new job which had to go when the job went, then got another older and cheaper 1 to replace it with the second. Wage increase let me upgrade to number 3 (newer, less mileage) then that went with next new job and Audi A3 company car, then opting out of the company car scheme saw 318iS number 4.
Plus I have the expensive hobby of liking to look at cars on forecourts!!!
