Topic: Croft Trackday 2003 Posted: 21-October-2002 at 20:56 |
I have just booked our annual Croft trackday...
Monday, July 21st 2003
It's the best trackday of the year, but then those of you that come already know that, it's the ones that don't that will never know what they are missing!

Are the trackdays open for spectators? I have just bought my first M3 ('96 EVO) and would like to see what the trackdays are about before committing to taking it on the track. Are there any other trackdays planned before this one in the NE region? Croft is only approx 15miles from my house and sounds to good to miss! Homany members made it to the last one?
Thanks,
Darren.

Darren,
Spectators are more than welcome at any club event..
last year we had around 50 drivers and they all brought a friend or two, I guess there were about 150 people altogether going by the feedback from the local pub which we use for lunch.
There is a trackday at Cadwell Park in May, on our patch but organised by the East Anglian Region... always a good one, but I don't know the exact date yet (usually on a Wednesday)

If you just want to spectate do you still have to book in advance or just turn up and pay at the gate? How much?
Do track day participants have to have special insurance and car prep? (Helmet?)

Guys,
This event is open to all club members, as is each and every club event regardless of region or register.
Spectators are welcome free of charge, just turn up and enjoy.
Helmets are compulsory at any decent trackday, they can be hired at the circuit if you don't want to invest in one. Open face ones are better for saloon cars.
Cars do not have to be specially prepped, we get just as many regular road cars as we do prepared track cars.
You can bring any car you like, (which is just as well seeing as I just sold the M3)
Insurance is up to you... The rule is that you have to 'mend what you bend'. If you insure your car with the club scheme that is run by Aon and advertised in the mag you will be covered at all club events including trackdays.
One of the unwritten trackday rules is that you pay for your own repairs to your own vehicle and never point the finger of blame at another club member.
Not that we crash a lot or anything, in fact the incident rate is very low.. if you take notice of the overtaking rules then contact with another car should never happen.
We do get cars spinning occasionally.. but it is usually only the drivers pride that gets dented.
If you want a good overview of trackdays in general there is a good one at uktrackdays.com

Croft Circuit now have some saucy little cars for you to hire at the trackday.
Porsche 944 Turbo's
Ginetta's
Mini Coopers's
All of 'em race prepared and on the button.
Let me know if you fancy one for the day (or half day) and I will work out a price.
You can contact me using the link at the top of this message.
Regards
Nicholas Wright
