Hi everyone

I hoping you can help me out with the 535d 2007

My wife drives the car everyday and i pop in for a drive every now and then to make sure its running ok , Went for a short drive today and no turbo power, When i put my foot down the revs climb but no boost of power like normal at all,

Any ideas ?

Hi mate i had this in my E46 330cd. after many many attempted fixes, it turned out to be the wiring loom. I had fault codes for the MAF and several other issues. It turns out a piece of my swirl flap actuator wire had come bare and was shorting against the block

I recommend you get a code reader plugged into it and take it from there. I've heard lots of horror stories, as you can imagine, when i was looking to sort mine. Check the turbo itself (i'm unaware of how easily accessible this is - i've never seen a 535 bay) check for a dry turbo actuator. That was the other biggest, and most prominent issue i read about.

Hope it helps

Have you seen what comes out the exhaust? When you boot it, is there any smoke or haze coming out the back end that you can see in your mirrors?

Most likely an electrical issue, something not working which then doesn't give you the boost. Get the codes read is the best option.

Thankfully the E60 DIEsel engines aren't the bombs that the E39 DIEsel engines are. Turbo failure on the E60s is rare, just as well as you have two!

If you are handy with a spanner it might be worth stripping out the inlet manifold to give it a clean as the inside of these things can resemble a coal mine. There have been a few threads on here about cleaning out manifolds.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Andrew

Thanks for letting us know.  Was it a diagnostic that picked it up?
