Are there any BMW meets in East Yorkshire - easier than travelling up to Malton for a meet...

Its a big region. Runs from Leicester to the Scottish border. I have tried to get meets around the region, but have had little success, except in the real North East (Scotch Corner to Gateshead). Someone in Nottingham who owns a pub was going to sort out a venue, but has not got back to me.

If you want a meeting set up in any area, please do the following:

1. Find a pub or hotel or whatever with reasonable parking, some good food available that does not cost the earth, and a pleasant host.

2. Contact the host and find out if we are welcome - normally around a dozen people but not always.

3. Check if we have to book, and get the phone number and postcode.

4. Arrange a date - check that it is not already in use in the North East/West events list.

4. Send all this info to me on NorthEast@635csi.co.uk

I will then do the publicity and update the magazine, web site and newsletter.

Just remember that to get maximum support for your event, it needs to be arranged about two to 3 months in advance so that we can hit the deadlines.

I'm across in Sutton.

Saloon or coupe???

What's the value and insurance?  I'm 24 with 3yrs no claims.  323 SE is group 15 and cost me £786 for the year.  I fancy an M3 mext year  when I'm 25 and hopefully have an extra year of no claims.

Well Steve,

It's the 3.0 litre straight six with 286bhp - you'll have to let me know if you still like it as much 12 months down the line.  I've only had my car for 3 months now - still love it but give me one or two years and I fancy upgrading to an E36 M3 Evo.

Hi there Compo!

Just before you sent the msg, I suddenly had a thought - SJC; the previous name on my V5 rang bells.  Now then mate.  Looks like just you and me in East Yorks then!!!

Mind you, the number of other people who have read the msgs but not replied make this (believe it or not) obe of the more popular forums.  I picked my E36 wreck up from some dodgy guy who........  ;-)

checky bugger :)

i suddenly realised when i saw what car you had and the name! i bought the M3 last weekend, its very nice, but doesnt have all the extras, but has been well looked after, as these cars get thrashed and can be expensive, so i went for one which i knew had top notch history. pop round some time. i just need to get the rear diff replaced as it whines like mad, new one arrives on monday, do you know a garage i can go to who you trust? so i can get the diff fixed?

cheers

Too many views and not enough replies.

Here's a rule that applies to YOU!!!

Surf in, read the messages and introduce yourself and your car before leaving.  Just want to know that there are other interested BMW owners in the area.

Cheers!!!

It isn't very active unfortunately.  I tried to liven things up recently, but to no avail!

The 330D is great - but what mpg do you actually get from?  And what kind of driving do you do/ how enthusiastic a driver are you?  I travel a couple of miles to work each day and do the odd 10 mile run from Hull to Beverley each week.  I squeeze 24/25 mpg out my car.  Revs nicely though!

Hi RichB

I am currently getting about 42-43 MPG out of it.  I have only had the car since the 14th Feb (first BMW) and have been finding loads of excuses to go out in it.  I normally only do as you do - 3 miles to work with trips to my parents in Barmby Moor (near Pocklington on the A1079) and to Selby as well.

I do travel to the north of Scotland every now and then, though, and can recommend this to anyone with a nice car!  The roads up there are wonderful for the car enthusiast.

I went for a trip over the Moors to Whitby last Saturday - nice day for it!  The Pickering to Whitby road is pretty good fun.

Being a diesel it does not rev quite so well as a petrol but it is still fast (faster than my old Mondeo 2.5 V6 petrol that I traded in).

I have pictures of it - but do not have them uploaded on a website anywhere so cannot post them for ou to look at unfortunately.

Performance stats suggest the 330d is very similar to my 323.  But it's a top class oil burner and returns excellent economy.  But then again, I come from the school of "if you can afford the car, then who gives a stuff about fuel economy!"  and dream of owning a V8 or s'thing that similar that will ruin the atmosphere!

Not knocking one of the best 3 series cars ever made...  Faster than the Ford, handles nicely and it's a top marque...

The reason I opted for this car is the Economy and CO2 emission figures for such a good performing car.  I have a nasty suspicion that the government are going to do something really nasty soon to 'private' owners of big CO2 polluting engines (namely petrol).  They have already done this for business/company owners.

I might be wrong but I get the impression that diesel could be a good idea for anyone who wants a good performance engine and plans to keep it a while.  Time will tell of course.

I had to mortgage my soul to get this car and hope I picked right - so far so good..........

Hello there. Im new to this site. Seen as though I am the proud owner of a beamer ( 316SE p reg) i thought i would drop by and see what its all about. Im 19 and i live in Hull. Has anybody seen the illusion kit for the E36? Its absolutely mint. I think i will be parting with just under a grand for it as it will turn my chariot into an even more beautiful ride. Has anyone got any ideas of prices for two tone paint on a beamer?

Ho ther Lloyde and welcome to the (unfortunately not active enough) North East Region Forum.  I suggested an east Yorks thing because the official car club region meets in Malton and I suspected that Hull/Beverley may have a few interested owners.

I've not seen the illusion kit yet, although I will have a nosey about for it.  As for two tone paint on a beamer, it's likely to be an expensive job, but I think I might be able to put you in contact with someone who can do a good job at a very good price.  Won't give you the details yet, because the job on my car is incomplete, so I don't think it is fair to recommend them to you at this stage, but watch this space if you are seriously interested.

What colour is your car at the moment? (Mine is Boston Green) And the issue of insurance for younger drivers has been discussed on other threads, so I won't start it here, but insurance may well have been expensive for you??  Personally, 24yrs/3ncb=£786
