Hey All,

Sorry to bother you all, but I just got my '54 E46 320cd
M-Sport (123Kmls) serviced by (BMW Dealer) today.

I mentioned it to the mechanic today when I was handing
it in that, I have been noticing that the car has been
lacking in/not producing full power in all gears from
about 2,000rpm as when you put the foot down & the rev
hit approx 2,000/2,250rpm & the revs/power stops/slows
down dramatically & it takes ages for the full
power/turbo to kick in (if it does at all) as you can
feel it holding back!

The only way I have noticed to help with this, is when it
happens. Is to release the accelerator fully & then to
press it down fully again & this seems to work most of
the time!?!?

So the mechanic told me he would run the diagnostics on
it & see what would show up & this is what he said. "the
diagnostics shows that it is the 'Inlet-Manifold & Glow-
Plugs' & I need to change them all especially the Inlet-
Manifold ASAP (Total cost of €1,000) before it damages
the engine. Is this possible???

Would removing the manifold & cleaning it just work??? or
is there any chance it could be these VERY FAMOUS "Swirl-
Flaps" that's causing this problem???

Also, I don't see how the 'Glow-Plugs' could cause this
as there has never been a problem starting the car, even
in very cold weather like this winter & the mpg is still
around 45/50mpg!

But if ye do think the Manifold at least needs to be
replaced! Does anyone know where I can buy 1 & have a BMW
Specialist in Ireland to replace it at a much better
price than I was quoted!?!?

All Information/Guidance will be very much appreciated.

Thank you all very much in advance for your help in
relation to this.

Regards,
MJ
