Does anyone have or have used snow socks recently, my queries on these are
  1. Do they really work?
  2. How difficult is it to get them on a car with MSport suspension and 255 30 R19 wheels?
  3. Where did you get them from?
The reason I ask is that I had my car for 45 mins before i got stuck in the snow 10 feet from my drive way, only took an hour to dig a track out and get it in the drive

I really wouldn't recommend them on a RWD car, they are really
designed for FWD. You would need to buy 4 of them for a RWD to get
anywhere.

You can check out sizes & buy from roofbox.co.uk
They are only intended for really sticky situations & wouldn't last too long if used on Tarmac with little or no snow & ice

Get winter tyres. They rule. Just been out in the GT. No grip / traction issues whatsoever.

Snow socks?

Is that like a new word for a form of snow chains?  Or is it something that goes over the tyre?

Anyone got a picture?

I've had no issues in the snow with my car.  Haven't got stuck yet.  Mibbies its having 9" tyres spreads the load somewhat?

Generally, no, as a rule of thumb the wider the trye the less traction you would have on snow & ice, spreading the load wouldn't help there.

I would suggest that your driving style is helping you stay safe

These are the ones I got for my Saab & my wife's Golf, we haven't used them yet though

The problem we have in the Uk ( or at least around Aberdeen) is that the councils use salt laden grit on the main roads, but streets in estates or country lanes seldom get cleaned. If you try to use socks in these conditions, you will most like ly destroy them on the main roads, or else have to keep taking them on and off.

I fully agree that snow tyres are the right answer- I used to use my old rally tyres for winter, with the narrowest steel rims I could find for whatever car I was driving at the time.
