Id have an interest for spares. If you could pm me with a price? Try the passenger front door. Lift the handle while you turn the key. It will pop open for you then. |

Try harder. Use some WD40 is needed. What are you braking anyway, can you post a list of options the car has, such as rims, radio/nav etc? Cheers

If you can get in to the boot then strap some jump leads or a booster pack on the battery there and use the remote on the key to open the doors. BTW, as Andrew said, the door should open with the key in the door lock. Did it a couple of times when I had the battery disconnected when not using the 5 for a time. Edited by Dergside |

Doors should open with the key in the drivers door lock. Open the boot with the key, remove battery, charge it, put it back in, open doors with the remote. I discconected the battery in my E39 then shut the boot lid but was able to open the boot using the key. |

Hi My 1997 520i has given up the ghost. Looks like the head gasket is gone, and to be honest I don't really want to spend anymore money on it, so I am looking to scrap it. Sad really as it was the best car I ever had and it's in perfect nick apart from the head. My problem now is that becasue i haven't driven it since november the doors won't open with the key, I assume because the battery is dead and the central locking won't work. How do i open the doors? Thanks, and if anybody wants to buy it for parts let me know... It's black with alloys
