I HAVE A 1997 523 AND AM TRYING TO FIT A SONY ERICSSON HANDSFREE KIT. IT HAS 3 WIRES TO CONNECT; ONE TO EARTH, ONE TO BATTERY PLUS AND THE THIRD IS FOR "IGNITION SENSE". ANYONE KNOW WHERE THIS THIRD WIRE NEEDS TO BE CONNECTED AND IF SO, WHERE CAN I FIND THE POINT ON MY CAR? ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED. I AM A QUALIFIED ELECTRONICS ENGINEER, SO HAVE SKILLS NEEDED TO SAFELY COMPLETE JOB. T.I.A.

Ignition sense sounds like it could be for switched 12V, meaning only has power when it "senses" the ignition is on.  Thats my guess anyway.  Best place to tap into switched 12V is on the radio harness.

Tap into the fuse for the windscreen wipers.  It's only active on ignition on if you don't fancy rippin out the stereo.
