Anyone know the score with these ecotek thingies?

I'm looking at them from a fuel economy point of view, currently getting through a tank of Optimax a week , about 200~250 miles.

They "claim" to improve fuel economy a bit which would be very handy if true.

Get about 17~19 MPG around town, too much traffic & too many Buses

I do get between 25 & 30 MPG on a long run though

Hmm, might need a tune up

do have a bit of a flat spot between 2000~3000 RPM. Might have something to do with it

i dont mean to scare you ,it probably is'nt the same problem , but have you looked at the section on the forum on the vanos unit as it says it causes a flat spot in power at 2000 revs. i really am hoping this is not the same problem as it's pricey! but try a tune it might sort it.

Had an ecotek unit fitted to my merc for a month. Noticed improvement in throttle response but fuel ecomony went worse!

Another m8 confirmed that he lost economy in his camper van.

Could be the way I set it up , but decided NOT to fit to M3

PS

You need 2 for engines above 2.6l.
