Hi guys,
In my new E36 M3 coupe I've upgraded my speakers and head unit & I am stil not happy with the sound, it still lacks a lot of bass even with the bass settings right up, sounds very flat and almost like the rear speaker are farting if you know what I mean, but better with the Kenwood head unit. I guess I was spoilt with the Carver setup in my Z4.. it was truely awesome, soooo much better than the E46 Harmon Kardon. Anyway... I've installed: Infinity 9623i 6x9" with adpater plates - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_932 ... 9623i.html Pioneer Pioneer TS-E1302IS front speakers Kenwood KDC-W3037A head unit (I was told it was a £150rrp head unit reduced to £69.99... but I am thinking it is actually a cheap head unit and not £150) Any recommendations where to get a new headunit online? Need to have a ipod input, aux is fine & still want CD. Between £150 & £200 if it'll save my problem... if it's last years model on sale then even better I understand I need to look for something with a high RMS output rather than MAX... so what you recommend. Doesn't have to be anything fancy... in fact something retro would be preferred. Look forward to your advice Graeme Edited by GWatson |

All current model alpines have full head unit ipod control for an additional £20 cable.
In fact I have a £130 alpine had unit in my E30 that's a good unit, so I'd recommend that. It's their current entry level one and I'm pretty sure you can beat that price online. I'd sell you mine (bought last August) if you weren't such a long way away!! |

I have just put a Clarion DXZ588RUSB hea dunit in my E36 ... standard speakers at the moment, albeit it there is an issue with the EA1276 ipod adapter not being compatible, I am plugged into the USB socket on the front with the ipod connected....
It sounds great ... and there is a multitude of "bass" settings, and tone curves you can set etc .... sounds pretty good on my standard kit at the moment. I will be putting the same infinity R's in the rear, and infinity in the front aswell ... as soon as cashflow improves ! Link The The Installation Thread I started Edited by HairyHaggis |

I am thinking of this head unit, will this allow me to attach an amp if the head unit doesn'd do the trick?

I havent tried an AUX cable on my head unit, but even on the USB method, the sound improvement from the siggy lighter ipod dock radio transmitter was massive !!!
I may look into the AUX position myself now ! |
