I think his parents are responsible for advising him, but the rest is up to him. He was 18 and old enough to know better. He should have listened to the guys on the forum. If his parents did fund his car then they are stupid too but as already said, it's the passengers and their families who are really hard done by. Having said that, I'm sure the passengers knew what they were letting themselves in for and if so are just as foolish.

We had a similar accident near me about 5 years ago. There was a guy travelling in a new mini cooper and he took off on the top of a hill (the road was a 50 and he must have been doing double that at least) he took off and his car swerved as it hit the ground smacking straight into a tree. He killed his brother and his best friend but he survived. What a lesson that guy learnt, I think if I was him I'd have rather died too.  The road is now a 40 with flashing speed signs but there has still been another death since on the same hill (a footballer who lived in Bracknell hit a woman head on as he came over the hill)

It's silly to think you are invincible in a car but for some reason, some think they are.

Mike

we all learned to drive at some point in our lives but who the hell decided it would be a good idea to put a kid behind the wheel of an m5.

i dont feel any sympathy for his parents if they funded this stupidity the passengers and their familys however are the ones that have been robbed. the only saving grace in this whole story is that he had the accident when he did and not on a public road with familys/children on the receiving end.

From other reports the driver already had 4 citations in 2 years and it was his first time to drive a manual.

If I read that right he drove off the end of a airstrip, drag racing around a private airstrip with four of his mates in a M5 with the traction control off. God have mercy on their souls.

I too feel sorry for the passengers, not the t**t driving though, I drive a lot more conservative when other people are in the car, i prefer to be responsible for my life only. Wouldnt blame the parents though, his choice on whether to use the loud pedal or not.

holy cow, that M5 is torn to shreds, its very sad that someone so young could loose his life, he should have listened to the forum members when they warned him about the 500bhp!!!

Jeeez, that's bad!

Parents can only share so much of the blame I think. What's to say they wouldn't have done it in any other car?

Very sad... and so young...

I feel sorry for the passengers parents.
