i fitted the "cap" so as to keep my amp at top notch for powering my sub speaker, 480W amp + 1200W sub, i was running 2 amp's and 3 sub's at one point but it took up to much space in the boot and to be honest the 2 in the boot were a waste of time, you could'nt hear them unless the boot was open so i then did away with 3 sub's in favour of 1 free air infinity sub ive also changed the buisness unit for a high output Alpine unit picture's can be seen here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2130011

Yeah a knackered capacitor will suddenly start to drain a battery very quickly, although I'd be surprised if it didnt blow the associated fuse...
Could you explain why you'd need a power cap for your stereo? (this intrigues me - I'm not being sarcy or anything!!) |

Not shour were to start its sound a big one will be worth checking the altanater as thay can discharge the battery, you coud fined out what the drain is bye concting a meter betreen the neg - and battery post - with the meter on amps good reading is 0.04 dc you can get away slightley higher with the meter like this you can remove fuses to pin point the problom. but it could be anthing.

Guy's anyone had a problem with the battery being drained? my car was dead yesterday so i jump started it i have a power cap fitted with my sound system and while on tic over it was reading 13.8 volt's .. 3hour's later without the engine running it read 8.6 volt's and the battery was dead again! i swapped the battery from my E30 to my E39 and it fired up, cap read: 13.9 went to check it this morning and it's dead AGAIN!! cap show's 8.5 volt's also my E30 fired up fine so both battery's are good.
any help or info as what to check would be of a massive help Thank's Ian |
