my neighbour is dead keen on swapping his e36 318 with my e30 316 both are k plates mine has done 200k his 130k is this a good swap and has any1 got info on what to look for on the "36" cheers

I take it yours is a touring?
It all boils down to which one is less rusty really... they say the E36 is less of a ruster than the E30 but I've had plenty of experience with rusty E36s. Other than that it's the same situation between each car. Both have an M40 engine, so check for recent cambelt changes, if the E36 is a two door, check the electric window operation (including the automatic dip when opening). The interior wasnt as well put together as the E30 so check for wear/rattles. |

sorry- yeah mine is a touring and is visably more rusty the 36 has a rough interior right enough, but nothing a set of seat covers and some auto glym wont fix ive just been out for a run and it doesnt seem to rattle, but it does seem to be less well made than the 30 as you said i like the digi dash tho think im gonna go for it as its a better mon-fri car and ive still got ma baby for the w/end
