Guys, Looking for advise on value of an S14 (195 bhp) i have had re-built. Spec as follows: Schrick 284/276 cams, Evo Sport light-weight Flywheel, New piston rings, All new timing chain related items, Slotted cam sprockets, New bearings/shells, Polished & balanced crank, Evo sport oil pump & every possible gasket/seal. Its all been painted black (block) & silver (head/timing covers etc). Every part was purchased brand new from dealers and I have receipts to prove. Cams were purchased from C3. The engine has not been run since being re-built and all clearances/valves/shims have been set correctly. The parts alone have cost in excess of £2500. This does not include labour costs for my engine builder. I know i'm not going to get the money back that I have already forked out, I just wondered if anyone could give me advise to where & how much to ask for it. Cheers in advance, Jim. |

I reckon that you will be looking at £2-£2,500.....there was a fully sorted engine on ebay a little while ago that went for 4k.

With that much work done I'd say it's worth more than £2.5K A few months ago there was a car being broken in France with 100K miles and the guy turned down £3K cash for the engine saying he'd wait til the auction ended... Dunno what it went for ultimately.... |

Nico, Thanks for your input. I may give it a run on ebay and see what interest is out there. Jim |

There was a stock, used 215 engine for sale on another forum.Sold very quickly and the asking price was around £2200.
I'd say 2.5 - 3 K. Anymore and I'd rebuild my own engine for that kinda money and know the ins and outs of it etc . Is the head a stock 195 head ? |

Yes its a stock 195 head. If was going to keep the engine i would have it ported. Just out of interest how much does it cost to get these heads ported. It may be worth me getting it done if its not too much money. I think this would make the engine a bit more desirable. Jim. |
