I'm thinkin of buying a U.K. M3 EVO Coupé 1998 model but would like to find out more on where I can get it insured comfortably. Not sure if i'm trying the best companies for that particular car.

Can anyone help?

Have you tried Tesco insurance? They were about the cheapest I found.

Topcat

Pays to shop around-the cheapest I could find for mine was direct line at £1200 for a 3L, garaged,6000miles per year and fNCD and insisted a tracker was fitted.

I then went with RF specialists who give a CC discount and I got unlimited mileage and £200xs for £690!! To put that in perspective I was paying direct line £670 for my modded 318iS!!

I'd grab a copy of Total BMW and Evo and ring round. Many places say they specialise in performance cars but actually don't or load the premiums.

The car im looking at is a 1998 'S' reg E36 BMW EVO Coupe priced at £13,750. My first quote and others have all been around £1780 - £1980!!!!!

I'm 30, 8 yrs NCB, 3 points SP50, and one old banger that was stolen for a £1000. I live in a good area too, just don't understand it. I have followed up some of the insurance companies you have all recommended to me so watch this space.

Cheers guys.

Again cheers John,

I will call these companies and see what the out come will be.

I will tell you how I get on. As I'm on a tight budget if the insurance is right I think I'll got ahead a try and get this M3. If its sold before I'm able to make a move I'll try and find if possible another one.

TOPCAT.

If you're an old git like me you can get cheap insurance from Saga!
Under £400 for unlimited mileage on my E30 M3

Mind you, Tesco was my 2nd choice, do you know anyone that works there?
Add them to your insurance, and you save a further 10% AND don't pay extra for monthly payments!

Don't get my hands on the EVO til Saturday. Test drove it last week and was very impressed with the performance. It did seem to perform pretty similar to my mate's TVR Chimaera 4.5, but I felt more safer and in control in the BM.

Mind you I've checked both cars on the quarter mile and the results were the same, both did it in 13.8 secs.

The Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII Extreme 0-60mph in just 4.2 secs, 0-100mph in 11 secs!!!!

That is one mean fast car, never driven or been in one but I only hear praise from the people who have.

Not the allrounder that the M3 is though. Best bit with tussles with TVRs is that the drivers can't often drive 'em so you always get the edge..!

RH specialists number is 01277 200100.

Evo 7s a good price tho' at £29,995 new
