Sounds great Ian and I bet it does sound great!

Is the engine at that level where it will need rebuilding every x hours??

Z3M Roadster (gone....just...but not forgotten...yet)
E30 M3 (Toy)
Alfa 147 (just gone)
BMW 330d (new work horse)
Daimler Double 6 (no idea yet)

Ian

Spill the beans on the specification! Is that figure off an engine dyno or calculated from rear wheels?

Who built it? Presume it's an £8k+ jobbie!

Cheers

Piers

the spec is
2:5
new BMW crank
new 2:5 block
Pauter rods
Johns pistons
12-1 CR
320 inlet cam
308 exhaust cam
30:5mm head
big valves
MS shim under bucket
titainium capsMS valve springs
48mm throttle bodies
carbon air box
DTA pro 8 ecu
distibutorless ignition
custom exhaust manifold

It has been tuned on a dyno , hasn't been in the car yet , got a small leak on the sump gasket so am going to replace that before fitting it.

It will be stripped in about 1000 competetive miles to be top and tailed.

I built the engine myself ,I had Lester bore the ports in the head , and I blended the throats to finished it , also had a local firm do some of the engineering work for it.

£8k ?? try double that .....

Cheers Ian

315bhp from a 2.5. Not bad. I bet it doesn't have much low down torque and judging by that dyno printout I'm guessing there isn't much power below 4k rpm. A proper racing engine then

Good luck in the Rally. Where is it?

its in west Wales , on Brawdy army base.

Cant wait to get it in and try it , with the sequential gearbox and 5:44 diff it shouldn't be a problem keeping it on the boil

I would argue about that. He's got more bhp at 6000 than the average S14 on peak.....

and I have driven barefoots car (some sort of GrpA engine with 300bhp) and that pulled CLEAN from 2000 like a train.

Ian,

With that diff you will be busy on the gearbox! What next? Paddle shift?

Good luck Sunday, I hope it credits itself well and gives no problems.
