Does anyone know if it is possible to buy standard guages from BMW as
the guy that had my car before me replaced them with some "lovely"
white and red dials I have looked at realoem but it seems you have to buy
the entire unit do you know any different?

Try checking realoem page 62 05 assuming it is for 87 M3.

They do sell the individual guages. I think the minor instruments are very similar to other models (but maybe not identical). Tacho and speedo are (I think) unique to M3

Thanks for your input but as I said I know you can get a whole set of
instruments but I only need the dials not the whole thing.

Right, I see what you mean now.  I should have spent a bit longer reading it the first time.

I think you are right. You have to get the whole gauge. The instrument dials (faces) are not listed separately.

Yes you can only get hold of the whole instrument not faces on thier own.

Just for your information, you can not get a "UK" speedometer any longer, but if it is MPH you want you can still get the USA version which seems to be identical, except the 55MPH marker is red/orange and not white like the usual E30's. I am unsure if all E30 M3 UK cars had this? Mine had Silver/grey faces fitted when I bought my SE.

Mine had the White dials fitted when i got it but fortunately the po kept the old ones , so it was a case of taking the cluster to bits and refitting the originals back.

I don't suppose yours are the ones that stick over the orignals are they , if not is it worth seeing if the po still has the originals ?

Sorry thats probably not a lot of help , but short of buying a second hand cluster i don't know what to suggest

They do come up on Ebay from time to time , the last one was a couple of weeks ago fetched £122

Good luck

Andy
