noisy layshaft bearing

   I have a noisy layshaft bearing on the gearbox, have done since I bought the car. I am told it is nothing to worry about but when my clutch is changed (still on original) I was thinking of having it done.

My mechanic said not to bother though as it will probably make the noise again.

Anyone had theirs sorted?

	Speak to Will at Kent Transmissions. Full rebuild will cost circa �200. A search of the site should give you a number.

	MY dads is exactly the same and has been for the last 7 even with new gearbox. been told its normal

	Kevin, I suppose it depends on how bad yours is. I had my 'box rebuilt by the person Dave (215dmx) mentioned above. I can still hear the bearing rumble though. It is many many times quiteer than before. My box was very tired before build. Cost around �220 IIRC

	We had our gear box rebuilt by mosely motorsport after the layshaft started to get noisy, had the clutch replaced as well. Hasn't made a noise since.
