Not at all mate it's just when you're selling your home, you're cars, all your worldly possesions then moving with 2 suitcases to half way accross the globe then trying to find jobs, get accomodation, get your residents visa, your international driving licence, find a new car, setting up finance blah blah blah, a wee email would have been nice.

Stewart, I don't think it was possible anyway mate because to do that the club would have needed access to the forum and email addresses which Killian controls and I don't imagine he would let them send an email to everyone, (certainly not their version of events) and also many club members do not have email or internet access so the only common denominator they had available was the post.

I think the idea was you could have a user name but you had to fill in the section for your real name and not leave it blank to remain anonymous as can be done on this forum. Personally I have always used my real name for forums etc I could never understand why anyone would want to remain anonymous unless you intend to flame  all the time or are a troll.

Steven, thats a great point, i did'nt look at it from that angle, thats the good thing about being in contact with so many people, you'll always get to see good and the bad of sides.

Cheers mate

Went to see an E39 M5, unfortunetly it was a right dud, arab owner from Abu Dhabi did'nt look after it at all!!!

Popped the hood, started her up, heard the dodgy clicking noise from the VANOS unit, noticed the damp oil patch on the underside of the plastic engine bay cover and the instruments in German and the badly cracked windscreen and  and  and  and!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was advertised at 75k but the guy started talking about 65k after i started pointing it all out, theres quite a few out here and i'm going to wait and get one,MMMMMMMMMM, M5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe you should put the question to the Club Chairman - whose username is JeffH and was known as Chairbear or Bimmon on the previous version of this forum

Do as I say, not as I do

lol - yeah, if it wasn't for the password thing I might just do that!  From the open bit on it though, it looks like the chairman has been a bit slow to acknowledge your feedback!

On the other question of why someone would want to use an alias, I reckon its quite simple.  Privacy.  The more personal information that is out there on the web the more spam, etc. I'll get and the greater the risk of some form of identity theft, etc.  Most spam is down to the fact that you've added yourself to a mailing list and the list has either been sold or hacked.

The next time you buy or sell a car, google the name of the vendor or buyer, get their work e-mail address and see what you can find out.  Its probably more than you'd imagine.  Then imagine what someone with a bit of technical knowledge and malicious intent could find out.

If you can find stuff out about them, they can equally find it out about you.
