Topic: Hi from a new E34 owner Posted: 08-May-2006 at 15:39 |
Hi all, just to introduce myself, i'm Simon from S Wales and have just bought my first BMW! She's a 1990 520i SE, bought for peanuts from good ole eBay. Here's a couple of pics,
Body wise, there's not a spec of rust and feels rock solid. Likewise, all the major mechanical items appear to be in good order. The main let downs are a tatty interior and the dash lights not working. I'm sure the tech forum will come in handy!
Overall though, for an old car with a high mileage, i'm very impressed. BMW's are obviously built to last and the engine is super smooth and sounds great!

Welcome to the madhouse!! There are a lot knowledgeable people on here who will be able to sort you out. Hoppe you have many miles of happy motoring! My car also came off ebay and been sweet as a nut and not needed much spending on it at all.

Thanks for the welcome. I have one rule about eBay, buy it cheap and you can't go wrong! The muppets that get into a bidding frensy only to discover the car isn't as 'mint' as the advert only have themselves to blame!
Gave her a REALLY good clean today. As you can see, the outside was already pretty good but the inside..... !!
Light cream coloured trim and dirt do not go well! MUCH scrubbing later, looks much better but there's nothing I can do about the ripped seats (one of the reasons it was so cheap though). Why is it, the Germans seem to be able to make really well built and engineered cars but can't make seat fabric?
