Warranty?

   Can anyone enlighten me on warranty please?
The running boards on my X5 have started to corrode, the aluminium is pitting. So i contacted my local dealer to say they need looking at under warranty.
He tried to tell that because they've had issues with them BMW would not warrant them for corrosion, which i think is rubbish? They also tried to tell me that because they are aluminium they do not corrode???? Yeah right.
Anybody able to help shed any light please. Thanks

	For bodywork warranty issues the rust has to be from inside out. For running boards, there is an argument that people could scuff / step on these entering and leaving the vehicle so AFAIK 'wear and tear' rather than corrosion warranty issue
