hi - i have an E34

ive got a message on my display  . . . "brake linings - check handbook".

changed the brake pads front and rear about 2 months ago.

What could this be - can low brake fluid levels or handbrake issue cause this message to display?

Thanks

ive found the problem . . .the sensor cable is disconnected - it had been taped up with black insulation tape! the connection between the sensor cable and the loom appears damaged at the loom end . . .is this difficult to repair?
