A new Web site has launched which allows you to compare dyno plots.
The idea behind Dyno-Plot is to give you access to a large collection of engine performance data, the tools to make sense of this data and to allow easy comparison of the tuning kits and parts and a place to discuss the modifications. All of these should help you make an informed decision and help get the biggest bang for your buck.
The main thing you want to know about modifications is what they will do to your vehicle. Engine tuners and performance parts suppliers often quote just a peak horsepower and torque figure. A graph from a power run or a dyno plot can tell you a lot more than just a single figure because it shows you an engine's output across its entire rev range.
Dyno-Plot collects details of power runs from those who put their cars through a rolling road. These can be viewed and compared allowing you to easily see what difference performance modifications have made. It's even possible to compare different types of engines, according to the site.
According to Webmaster John Sweet, "The site's got a big Lotus bias at the moment as we come from that background but recently has broken out into lots of other areas which is great and adds real interest."
