Hello people,

I'm currently on a break in Madrid, and yesterday I spotted the coolest (in my opion anyway) E39 I've ever seen....a Dakar Yellow M5 Touring!

Did they sell these in the UK, and if so I'm gonna start saving hard? I didn't manage to get my tourist camera out in time to get any pics, but I'm back in that part of the city today with my eyes peeled and camera at standby

Martin B (I thought it was sunny in Spain?!)

Don't mean to wee on your bonfire, but there is no such thing as an E39 M5 touring, I believe BMW did actually make 1 at the factory for "staff" use but nothing was available to joe public. (I think that one was Silverstone)

The one you saw was probably a replica / makeover.

It was a very good replica then! I know they made E34 M5 estates, and you sure they never did them in E39's as well? Does anyone know if they did make any model estate in yellow, 'cos it did look the business...I hope I see it again before my returnto Blighty in 3 days!

Cheers

It's a real E39 M5 Touring taken at the ///M offices in Germany. The car was built for an exec and seems to be a one-off.

I really hope I see it again before I leave! It did have 4 exhaust pipes, thats why I believed it to be an M5! It was spotted in the city's financial district, so I guess money can buy anything!

All I can say again is that it looks the business, and I can't afford one......yet

If you do see it again, check whether it's a manual or auto and also look for the M5 mirrors (will be oval both inside and out) that will give a clue to how good the conversion is.
