m3 cams help

   hi if anyone can help iv spoken to the last owner when my m3 had a new engine fitted it had a new m3 lump with the gt internals i think i have no paper work to prove this he said its got the works gt cams in it i want to get the car chiped but do i need to get it mapped to the cams or can i use a std viper chip or sumthing simerler,how can i check for the cams and also are the gt cams much diffrent than std
