i bought a bmw m3 3.0l from a salvage dealor it had front end damage oil cooler was damaged it did not have any oil in the engine. so that was my own risk that i took. the car has since been repaired with a new oil cooler and oil topped up. but sadily the engine doesnt not turn. i have had the car up in the air on a two poster ramp, i have put the car in gear and have manually turned the rear wheels to see if there is any movement in the engine, there was no movement.

how can i get it started?

what else can i check?

does the car require a engine rebuild?

can i replace the engine with an evo engine?

if so what modifications do i need to do for the evo engine to work?

Hi , I'm no expert but I'd start by taking it out of gear and try to turn the engine over on its own in case something in the driveline is siezed .

You won't be able to turn the wheels with the car in gear even if the engine is ok.

Easy things first - Hit the starter with a hammer to give it a shock. If it is jammed this might free it.

Will the car roll in neutral?

If so, try to bump start it. If the rear wheels just lock, your engine is seized. Try it again in 5th. It won't bump start the engine but if the engine is going to turn it is more likely to do it in 5th than 1st or 2nd.

Seized engine = expensive rebuild.
