Inconsistent LCD display (mileage & trip)

   i drive a 520i m50 engine with manual transmission. my dash is the non-check control type (only a single knob to reset tripmeter).

the lcd display (usual 7 segment led type) for both the tripmeter and mileage displays sometimes have some of the segments not lighted up.

what could be the cause and how to go about fixing it?

	most pro a blown bulb behind display i had to change mine a while ago should be two screws above display unscrew and pull out unit all the bulbs are clear to see take care as really light handed job dazz
