I would suggest that a 1000hp in a E36 saloon is possibly a little insane!!!

Agree! That is really insane

I want to see the 1000PS in the E36 with my own eyes.
And NO major drive train mods......
Watch the vids on the website when they drive against a 360 Ferrari. with 1000PS they should produce black stripes with 100mph+ on the speedo.
That car was discussed a few weeks back. Do a search for the post.
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

That car and it's owner are discussed quite often on http://www.bimmerforums.com

No dyno plots to back up the power claims...

hmmmm. mines got 320 hp and is enough hassle to look after and keep running as it is. imagine 3 times the power!! im sure youd end up like in the cartoons just sliding along the floor in your seat holding a steering wheel.!!

I am impressed by what they claim to be able to offer , but I wouldn't add that much power to my car...

This is a Turkish company and even drivers from Greece and France took their BMWs there (the 330ci and Z3 are from Greece and the 1000 M3 from France). That says something.

Anyway, there is an authorised BMW dealer in Greece, who has improved an E39 M5 from 400bhp to 750bhp. I couldn't believe it, even when I spoke to the technicians who did the job!!!! And the bloke who owns and drives the car is an ...over...enthusiast...

Just for your  information about what's happening far far away in the world!

i can believe that you could drag 750 hp out of a 5.0l v8. that seems quite plausible.

but 1000hp out of a 3.2l straight 6.... no sir. not without it blowing up after 5 yards.

i definitely smell something...... and it aint good.

Weren't BMW getting over 1000 bhp out of their qualifying turbo race engines (1500cc) thirty years ago? Completely different engines admittedly but this 1000 bhp claim for a road car sounds so crazy maybe, with much more modern technology, there could be some truth in it.........That said I can't imagine engine life span will be anything more than a few minutes when running full boost.

The BMW Arrows/Brabham turbo engines ultimately raced with around 900bhp. Under single lap qualifying they would run up to around 1400bhp, but would only hold together for 5 miles, sometimes not even that.

The early turbo engines were built around iron road car (316/318) blocks. BMW found 'seasoned' ones the most robust - the stresses that built up in casting were releived after they'd been running in a car for a while. So the F1 cars were racing with blocks that had already seen 100,000+ kms in a road car.
