So winter is here. Whats everyone doin to protect their paint work, what products are you using and what kind of results are you getting. I know some of you garage your cars over winter, which i would love to do, but cant :(. Just seeing what everyone uses to get any tips on protecting the car better. Paintwork Cleaned with SSR2.5 and swirls removed Paint Glazed with Meguiars #80 speed glaze (removes swirls induced by SSR2.5 and adds depth) Meguiars NXT wax Meguiars #7 show car glaze topped with #16 pro paste wax. Arches degreased with Meguiars super degraser and coated with AG bumper and trim Gel Wheels cleaned with Megs Wheel Brightener and coated with #16 Glass treated with Rain X
Overall the grit and salt just sits on the #16, which allows me to coat the car with the foam gun and let the shampoo lift the dirt off, before blowing it with the pressure washer.

and declared SORN it saves on road tax too seriously though, i would say the most important thing is to blast the underneath with a pressure washer even more regularly cos of all the salt on the roads at this time of year maybe worth getting a breathable car cover if you have to keep it outside, but see if you can rent a lock up garage nearby to protect the car from the elements as much as possible |

Sounds like a lot of work doing all that cleaning Allan. I just get the wife to clean the car now. She uses it so she can clean it I say. She gets plenty of practice cleaning the house anyway so she should be pretty good at it. Alan. |

Looks a pretty good job. Lot of elbow grease. Much do you charge for this service? Is it the joy of the end result? If so then do I have a challenge for you Allan. Got a mate who spends a full day doing all that kind of stuff where a just throw a bucket of water over my car. Alan.

I did the touring for £30, but I quoted that blind, cos the last time i seen the car it was just out the showroom. I couldnt do a £30 detail and give it back lookin better but still pants incase people thought i was crap . The seats were matted with mud and the carpets were the same. But thats horsey people for you. I prepped the E46 for a week before the F+M show and it got dusty on the way into the ground, so never doin that again. I would do cars in 2 days, leaving a top coat to cure over night, then adding another coat in the morning. But people dont want to part with their cars for 2 days so i normally just do it in the oner. |
