Does anyone know if the rear light cluster design was changed during the production run? I need a pair of rear light lenses for an 12/87 build car, and wonder if I can use ones from an earlier car?

The rear light clusters never changed throughout production.

Maybe I am wrong here but I thought they did change. Whilst the lens may well have stayed the same . The Shadowline had black trim and the early ones had a chrome trim .

Connected to this: is there a cost effective solution to pitted chrome surrounds on the rear light clusters?

Yes, but that's just a chemical change from chrome to black. It's the same moulding underneath.....

I've seen 6s where the reverse light was in the middle of the cluster. I thought that was an early design?

Nah, that would have been nicked from an E23 7-Series....
