might be best buying one's that give more "white light" as ive knowin of folk who thought theyd up-grade the bulb watage to end up with either burnt wire's and melted plug's/connecters. (You could go for bigger watage, but you'd have to put the power through a relay)

another option is to go "Xenon" but to do this proper can run into the hundreds of pound's

have a look in Halford's, they have a good selection of brighter bulb's in keeping with the proper watage

At the Donninngton Show I was quite taken by some Xenon headlam bulbs, but I politely declined at £80 for a set of four.
I recently purchased a set of HB4 and HB3 Ice Blue Xenon headlamp bulbs 6500k from Autobulbsdirect of Romsey, no increase in wattage, for a much reduced price and they suit me fine. They now match the white lights of my Angel Eyes.

Where can you go to get these brighter bulbs?  Not on t'interweb but a shop you can see all the different types and compare them.

Halfrauds sell their own brand 'brighter bulbs' that will have the 9005 and 9006 fittings for the earlier E39's but I am not 100% convinced that I want an own brand Halfrauds bulb.

Where can you go to browse over bulbs from such manufacturers as Bosch and Philips?  Halfrauds only do their own and a very limited supply of Bosch 'upgraded' bulbs.

There was a report a few months back, might have been the CC mag, Philips bulbs came out very good overall.

The Auto Express of Sept 05 gave Phillips a top score in their "Blue Vision" and their "Vision plus".
